Day One - Night-time
Who: Andy Gallagher & Luna Lovegood
What: Heading back to shelter for the night
When: 10:00 pm
Where: The Church
Rating: PG-13 for language
Status: Complete

By the time Andy and Luna were on their way back to the church for the night, the sun had long since gone down and the rain was coming down in buckets, thunder rumbling and lightning brightening the sky in random splashes of blue-white. They'd had to take it a lot slower than he'd hoped they could've and he thanked whatever powers that he'd found a poncho in the thrift shop earlier. He'd wrapped a bunch of clothes that he and Luna had found in it and at least those would be dry.

It was a lot harder, too, to navigate the dirt road in the dark with only the spurts of lightning in the distance as a guide. By the time they'd gotten where he thought was close to the cemetary, Andy had pulled his coat off and, shivering, held it over he and Luna's heads.

"Okay, this is gonna be s-s-s-s-seriously b-b-balls, but we're gonna need to build a f-f-fire," he managed through chattering teeth. "Easy on the s-s-steps," he added when he nearly faceplanted himself on them on his way up to the church door.

When he was up them, he held a hand out to Luna to help her, figuring with the mud everywhere and the rain still pouring down, her sandals would have her slipping and sliding all over the place. He was freezing and soaked to the bone, not to mention exhausted; she must be worse off in that thin little dress of hers. His hoodie must weigh a hundred pounds to her by now...

A very good man, Luna said.

The statement stirred a memory of the day he wished he could forget from his past. You be good, Andy...

Yeah, right. Real good. He was trying, but life sure as shit wasn't making it easy on him.

Still, Andy was glad to see that Luna was going to join him. The reason was three-fold, really. It would be warmer with them laying together, he'd feel more relaxed knowing that she was right beside him and he wouldn't have to worry about someone snatching her right from under her nose (Andy had come to the conclusion that, in this place, apparently anything went), and well, she was Luna and she was sharing a makeshift bed with him.

She said nothing in response to his essentially unasked question about using one another to keep warm and before he could bother trying his luck by asking again, she'd turned to face him and pulled her knees up slightly; so that was a no, then. Faster than it had taken her to get down on the floor, she seemed to be out like a light.

"Luna?" he whispered, a little surprised. He'd only ever been able to pass out like that when he was drunk as fuck or stoned.

He turned on his side, propping himself up with his elbow and looked over Luna at the doorway to the church. It was closed, but he could hear thunder rumbling in the distance and the wind whistling through the warped wood out of which the building was made. He hoped that she'd latched it behind her so it didn't blow open in the middle of the night and put out their fire...

Andy's eyes returned to Luna and he smiled, rolling his eyes a little when a piece of her hair - that same piece that had been bothering her back in the woods that morning - slid down her face and fell over her eye. With a soft sigh, he gingerly pushed it back out of her face and tucked it behind her ear. How she was able to sleep while he, himself, was still so on-edge, he had no idea.

Finally, he laid back down after a few minutes of watching the shadows and firelight dance across Luna's profile. Lacing his hands behind his head, he stared up at the ceiling and tried to put together some of the many things running through his head. There had to be a reason they were here and if it wasn't all Psychic Kids, chances were that the Yellow-Eyed man wasn't it. That quite possibly knocked Sam off his pedestal of expertise, Andy thought, and that was disquieting, because if there was one person in the whole world, oddly enough, that Andy would trust to get them out alive and well, it was Sam Winchester. Even better if they managed to find a way to get Dean here, as well.

Yawning, Andy realized that as uncomfortable and slightly freaked out as he was about falling asleep where he was, he was losing the battle to stay awake. Part of it was the fear that once he fell asleep, he'd wake up in yet another new place, surrounded by still more unfamiliar faces. But, Luna was already passed out; he might as well join her. And so with another sigh, Andy closed his eyes and let himself drift off to sleep. Tomorrow was another day; they'd find their way out then.
