Day Seven - Early Morning
Who: Shannon Rutherford & Shizuka Domeki
What: Early morning practice
When: Asscrack of dawn
Where: Initially the museum, then the carnival probably
Rating: PG- something or other (but probably no more than 13)
Status: Complete

The snow already beginning to press against the door of the thrift shop made it a bit difficult to leave and the snow already beginning to accumulate on the streets and walks of the town made the trek to the museum something slow and labored. Domeki, figuring that it would take him a while to make the hike across town, had chosen to leave before it had even begun to get light outside and it proved to be a wise choice - aside from the fact that he found himself already chilled nearly to the bone by the time he paused before the large door leading into the museum.

Domeki flexed the bare and numb fingers of his hands as he debated whether or not to knock. He knew that knocking was, essentially, the only way he could let Shannon know that he had arrived but there was an equal chance that he might awaken one of the gentlemen currently staying with her - and then he might have to explain what he wanted with his big sister at this hour and also why he was currently carrying a bow.

After a moment of silent debate, he finally raised his hand and rapped his numb knuckles against the wood of the door. He could only hope that, should Shannon not be the one to answer, whoever did liked early morning knock knock jokes.

While Shannon understood Domeki's stance on wanting to ruin the experiments being done, she disagreed wholeheartedly. Something about the deliberance of everything in this place made her so uncomfortable and she couldn't help thinking that if the captives found a way to mess things up for the people running the show, those people would make sure the captives regretted doing so. She didn't say as much, though. "Ah world peace...favored answer of beauty queens throughout the world when asked for the one thing that they'd want," she joked back. "Should we look around the thrift shop to see if we can find you a tiara while we're wishing for things?" she teased.

Her LA, he'd called it. If only. "Yeah, I get the feeling that New York isn't a place for anybody to go alone, but maybe that's just an unwarranted bad wrap it's built up over the years. I'm sure that the crime rates aren't any higher there than in Los Angeles, honestly, but LA is where all the beautiful people in show business live, so I think that overrides the whole violence thing, by default. Ridiculous, but probably true," she replied. "Tokyo? Cool. I'm not gonna pretend I know where that is, or anything, but I have heard of it. Is it the capitol city or something? I vaguely know where Hiroshima and Nagasaki are, but only from history class," she added, looking a little sheepish as she thought of the fact that she only knew of cities in his country that her country had dropped bombs into. That was sort of embarrassing, actually...

"You are so cruisin' for a bruisin' bub," Shannon said with a smirk, wrinkling her nose at the way he kept on teasing about the broken nails. Men would never understand, she supposed; not even Domeki. "Hurts the most if your nails are strong - which mine are - and it breaks really low to the skin. And usually we don't carry on as much as men like to think we do. It's kind of rich that guys pick on us about breaking nails, which actually hurts, when they act all big and bad until they've got a cold or something and then they act like they're dying. I think both sexes have their weaknesses," she pointed out with a grin.

The reality of the situation - that she was trying to decide between dogs and bears to shoot with a bow and arrow - struck Shannon as pretty funny and so, predictably, she laughed. "Uh, which do I like better in general or which would I prefer to shoot in the face?" she joked. "I don't care; whatever. They're all gross and I can't see anyone wanting them at this point, anyway, so I don't think it's gonna matter which ones we damage."

"I think being a beauty queen would be more in your area of expertise," Domeki mused as he tipped his head on side. He allowed the topic of wishing to sabotage the results of the experiment to fall to the wayside since it was fairly easy to understand that actively trying to ruin them would be both a bit too difficult and a bit too dangerous; though he hadn't been part of any of the truly dangerous experiments, he could easily recognize the many ways in which the one in which he had taken part could have gone much worse. "I wouldn't be all that surprised to find a tiara in the thrift store but actually finding a suitable dress could be a bit more difficult - unless you want to use that dress from the other day"

"I've heard that about New York, but I was never sure how much of it was true and how much of it was just national bias. Still, I think I'd like to see it - if just because it sounds like such a busy and exciting place. Though seeing LA for all of the beautiful people and the show business sounds good too," he agreed. As bad as it might sound, Domeki wasn't all that surprised that she didn't know many cities in Japan but it seemed only fair - he really didn't know many American cities, aside from the ones which everyone seemed to know. "You're right. Tokyo is the capitol city and it's where a lot of the big business happens. It's - well, I suppose it can be compared to New York. It has a bit of a reputation but it's where most of the major events happen."

"You're right. Both men and women have their weaknesses and I can see how breaking a nail would be very painful," he agreed with all seriousness. The seriousness couldn't last all that long and he grinned at her description of how men tended to act when sick. "Does that mean that I can't count on my big sister to take care of me if I get sick?"

"Which would would you like to shoot in the face, preferably, but you're right - it really doesn't matter." Domeki nodded and, after a moment's thought, he decided to use the bears since they seemed to offer a slightly larger target. Figuring that it would be a good starting point, he set the stuffed animal on the platform which had once held the trio of cups meant to be knocked over. "Does that look like a fair distance to you? You should be able to hit that from here."
