Day Seven - Early Morning
Who: Shannon Rutherford & Shizuka Domeki
What: Early morning practice
When: Asscrack of dawn
Where: Initially the museum, then the carnival probably
Rating: PG- something or other (but probably no more than 13)
Status: Complete

The snow already beginning to press against the door of the thrift shop made it a bit difficult to leave and the snow already beginning to accumulate on the streets and walks of the town made the trek to the museum something slow and labored. Domeki, figuring that it would take him a while to make the hike across town, had chosen to leave before it had even begun to get light outside and it proved to be a wise choice - aside from the fact that he found himself already chilled nearly to the bone by the time he paused before the large door leading into the museum.

Domeki flexed the bare and numb fingers of his hands as he debated whether or not to knock. He knew that knocking was, essentially, the only way he could let Shannon know that he had arrived but there was an equal chance that he might awaken one of the gentlemen currently staying with her - and then he might have to explain what he wanted with his big sister at this hour and also why he was currently carrying a bow.

After a moment of silent debate, he finally raised his hand and rapped his numb knuckles against the wood of the door. He could only hope that, should Shannon not be the one to answer, whoever did liked early morning knock knock jokes.

Knowing that she would be meeting Domeki early in the morning, Shannon had talked Sam into sleeping with her the previous night and letting Jack or the Doctor take watch. It was selfish two-fold, really, because the idea of sleeping at the same time with Sam for a change was kind of nice on top of the fact that if he was still asleep when the sun was starting to rise, she thought it might be easier to extract herself and meet with Domeki without having to explain herself.

So, as soon as she woke up, she laid awake in Sam's arms in the dark, trying to keep herself from dozing again before finally he rolled just right and she could move away without fear of waking him up in the process. When she did, she dressed in as many layers as she could stand.

The knock at the door caught her attention and she hurried to it, grunting a little as she pushed the display out of the way and pulled the door open a crack to peek outside. Seeing Domeki with a bow in hand, Shannon smiled and slipped out the door, shutting it behind herself. "Morning," she said softly, stifling a yawn behind her hand. "My turn to be 'young grasshopper,' right?" she asked with a wink before giving him a hug - partially because she was always happy to see him and partially because she was already cold.

Looking over her shoulder as she did so, Shannon noticed the additional accumulation of snow and raised her eyebrows as she pulled away from him. It was still coming down. "Shit, it's really coming down..." she murmured, wondering just how much snow they'd have before it stopped.

"Morning, big sister," Domeki replied. He offered her a smile and he accepted her hug gratefully - partially because it was a welcome gesture from someone whom he had already begun to think of in terms of family and also because it really was freezing out in the open air. When she drew back, he wrapped an arm around himself and huddled down a bit into the worn leather jacket he had borrowed from the thrift store - but he was still all too aware how quickly he'd again find himself chilled through and through.

"I guess that makes me the wise master?" He asked just a bit uncertainly. It had been a long while since he had tried to give archery lessons - and, even that one time, he had been working with an underclassman who had asked for lessons more in the hope of having time with him than anything else. He was confident in his own skills, this much was true, but he wasn't sure how easily they could be passed along. "Though you still have much to teach me in the ways of your slang."

"Mm, I think the thrift store will be entirely snowed in before too much longer," Domeki agreed. The thought caused him a moment of worry for Watanuki, as well as the others who could end up trapped inside the store without supplies, but the worry soon resolved into a determination to bring back some food and water once the lesson was over. "We should probably start walking over - it might help us keep warm a little longer and I'd hate for the snow to get too deep for us to walk in."
