Day 7 - Late morning
Who:Watanuki and Domeki
What: happy meeting of two old friends
When: late morning
Where: in the streets, not far from the Thrift Store
Rating: I bet it'll be PG-13 for language
Status: complete

The snow didn't look like it'd stop any time soon and Watanuki was getting annoyed. Even though they had some food and water stored, he didn't like the idea of being trapped in there for he didn't know how long. Besides, he was worried that if the snow would pile any higher against the shop windows the glass would collapse under the weight.
Eventually he made up his mind and decided to go and have a look around to see if he could find a better place. He was lucky that the door opened towards the interior of the shop or he would be stuck inside, he reflected as he pushed his way through the snow that already reached past to his knees. Before reaching the end of the street he'd regretted his decision to go outside: the cold wind made his face burn, and the snow was getting into his eyes and clothes. Even with his new jacket and gloves, he felt freezing. Seeing a figure advancing through the snow, he went in that direction waving one arm to attract their attention.

The sad fact of the matter was that Domeki tended to tease Watanuki just because his cooking really was that good. It was also true that the only food he would feel really comfortable eating in this strange place was whatever Watanuki chose to make for him - and so, if his friend ever did go on strike, then he would be well and truly screwed. "I'll see what I can find once the weather clears," he responded easily. He was also a bit uncertain that he could get deer meat while it was snowing this hard but he wouldn't hesitate to go out and look for some if it became necessary.

Domeki answered the hope that the snow would stop soon with a rather eager nod. He surely wouldn't be sad to see the snow go, even if it had been nice when it was much shallower, and he would be quite glad once they managed to find their way to some shelter. Having been out in the weather so long, he found that he could barely feel his fingertips and he knew that his pants were soaked just about all the way through. He also seemed to be going numb in an almost alarming sort of way but he was content enough to ignore his own difficulties until he could get Watanuki somewhere warm and safe.

"Why weren't you paying attention to see when I would stop?" His answer was really only halfhearted as he had become rather distracted with trying to get his fingers to hold and to write with a pen. In a way, he hated to invade his big sister's privacy but going to the museum seemed like the only viable option at the moment. "I'm writing to my big sister to see if she'd mind us staying with her until the snow stops. It shouldn't be too hard to find our way there from here."

Watanuki only half-heard Domeki's words, and anyway he was too tired to complain. He just stood in the snow, grasping the other boy's sleeve with one hand and swaying slightly. His fingers felt frozen despite the thick gloves. Seeing Domeki writing something, Watanuki remembered that he wasn't wearing any gloves at all.
"Aren't your hands cold?" he asked numbly staring at Domeki's red hands.

He felt thankful when Domeki told him about finding a place where to stay, even though his choice of words confused him. "Big sister?" he repeated. Domeki didn't have any siblings. Then he remembered reading in the journal that some girl used to call him "little brother", though he couldn't say which girl that was. Thinking straight was getting increasingly difficult.
Watanuki tried to focus on the thought of finding some place to stay and wait for the snow to stop. He was feeling very sleepy, even though it was only around midday and he'd had a good long sleep last night. It would be embarrassing if he ended up fainting in the snow and had to be saved by Domeki.
