Tink sighed softly as she fluttered around the shop. She had let herself in earlier when the door had opened for a moment. It had been a goodly long while, though, before she had been able to leave her post atop the lamp beside the door. It had been brutally cold, and her journal had been her only company. She was glad to have it. It seemed that it could keep her mind occupied even when her body could not be.

Taking a seat on a desk beside the window, she looked out into the gray day. This gloom was depressing. It was never like this where she was from. It reminded her of London, but the ugly, industrial side of London. It reminded her of adults. Not really melancholy, she was definitely effected, her glow hovering around white instead of happy gold. How she wished for some company. When would she get to throw her party?

Having never visited a bank, and never really knowing what one was, she did not have any idea that such words had to do with such a boring place. If she had been there, though, Tink probably would have been most displeased. Banks were shrines to everything adult, everything that she thought was wrong with human beings. Peter would have been very upset with a bank. She imagined that he, probably, would have made a scene.

"What's snow?" It occurred to her that she had never really seen snow. They usually only went to the London in the spring and summer, so there wasn't any snow around at that point. And it never snowed in the Neverland. Children didn't dream of snow when they were dreaming of tropical forests. If there was any snow anywhere in the Neverland, she had never seen it. The cold wasn't really fun. "And ice sculptures? I've seen regular sculptures, but I don't think I've ever known what those are really made of."

Edward stared at her, amazed that she had never seen snow. It was both very sad, and very interesting... an odd combination that Edward wanted to fix by showing Tink what it looked like. "Snow is soft and white and... cold?" he guessed, having no real concept of temperature. "It happens in the wintertime instead of rain in cold places... but I can make it without clouds." He said this words with a touch of pride. Edward could do very little very well, but his art was truly remarkable.

"Maybe you can see it? Here?" he suggested brightly. So much was possible in this strange new world, after all, with so many kind people writing to him and talking to him.

The stare was mildly unsettling, but she assumed that he was just appreciating her beauty, and all was well. Smiling up at him, she crossed her legs and listened politely to his description. "Soft and white and cold? That sounds really interesting. Can you describe how it's soft? Is it soft like a kitten or is it soft like a blanket or is it something else?" Hopefully, even if he didn't have a concept of temperature, he had a concept of softness.

"I've seen lots of things here. I've learned a lot, but there's still so much more that I need to know! It's always interesting. Maybe I can see it here. Do you think here is the kind of place where it snows? You need to be sure to tell me when it happens. Though I'm going to do my best to recognize it for myself. I like being clever like that and learning things." Giggling, Tink wrinkled her nose. Edward was nice, and she felt like they had a lot in common. If he hadn't been a pirate in the Neverland, he probably would have been a Lost Boy.

"So, what kind of adventure are you on today that brings you here?"

Edward tended to stare, regardless of the situation or context. The poor, sweet thing had never exactly been told not to, and as far as he was concerned, the world was there to be looked at for as long as he liked. Unlike touching, looking never hurt anything.

"It can be cut... that's how it's soft," he explained, looking down at his razorblade fingers. That was how he knew if things were soft. If they broke or bled. People were soft.

His face lit up when she started talking animatedly about the interesting things she was learning in this new place. "Maybe it snows here! Christmas means snow," Edward said happily, thinking back to decorating for the holiday, though his memories of actual Christmas were far from happy. "Adventure?" He thought, imitating the way Tink wrinkled her nose for himself. "Oh! Exploring!"

Tink could relate to not being told things. After all, she'd never really had a formal lesson in anything. The spelling that the Martha had suggested was the closest she'd ever had, but those had ended when the Martha had seen fit to disappear. Selfish, she thought, very selfish. Still, she didn't see anything wrong with people being as they were. Lessons made fake people. She and Edward were real because they were as they were supposed to be; no one was forcing them to be anything.

The idea of snow was interesting. She desperately wanted to see it. "Oh!" she said, clenching her fists and closing her eyes tightly. She'd seen one of the Darling children do something like that once or twice. "I hope it snows! I wish, I wish, I wish it snows! I wish it snows here, where I can see it!"

And then Edward endeared himself to her forever. "Exploring!" she exclaimed, her big, blue eyes shooting open. She gasped, flying around him speedily. "Exploring! I love to explore! I've gone exploring around here, you know, with the Martha and the Watanuki! It's been wonderful! I'm always up for more." She looked around the store, looking sheepish, her eyes shifting from side to side. "You know, I haven't had an adventure inside of the store just yet...what do you say we explore it? I'm still looking for some more permanent housing!"

Her heart was racing, and she was incredibly excited. She hoped against hope that he wanted to adventure with her. It felt like she'd been striking out in the epic adventure department.

Indeed, it was true that Edward was himself, with no other options, and that that's what made him real, despite the fact that, to so many, he seemed to be the exact opposite. Both he and Tink were dream children, whose existence was difficult to explain, yet here they were. It was funny how the world worked, sometimes.

Her wish to see snow was something that Edward could have definitely done something about, with a few suitable blocks of ice. He promised to himself that he would remember to show Tink as soon as the opportunity arose, glad that there was something he could do to make the fairy happy. He loved seeing people smile, because something about happiness was very, very beautiful.

He was initially very alarmed when she started zipping around him, faster than he could turn to follow her with his eyes. He stopped before he became dizzy and fell over. "We can explore inside?" he asked, growing excited himself. It worked marvelously; his stilted, slow movements wouldn't be such a hindrance inside one building.
