Day 6
Who: Merope Gaunt and OTA
What: Chance meeting with creatures.
When: Day Six, evening. After sundowns?
Where: Carnival, we all know she always travels alone like a dummy.
Rating: TBA
Status: Incomplete

After passing by the thrift store, she picked up a few things that fit her a little better and were a little warmer. Sleeping inside the cold Clock Tower wasn't really healthy for her, but she found it more comforting because she'd been hiding there now a days. Merope found a black zipper sweatshirt with a hood, a deep violet dress and a pair of pants and sneakers, a bit more comfortable than what she wore before.

While she hadn't seen Rorshach, she figured that she would find him eventually. Her own thoughts caused her to wander a little, coming into the Carnival area and looking over the muggle items. Each small thing caused her to think of Tom, quickly becoming upset to some degree and shaking her head.

You filthy whore, you witch! I don't want you. Did you really think I would? She heard Tom's voice and instead of trying to react, she tensed her body and ended up sobbing when she gazed down at her empty stomach. While she thought and punished herself internally, her eyes fixated on a small, old, unwashed teddy bear prize and she pulled it out. Merope looked over it as if she were looking in a mirror, her body pulling the bear closer to her in a squeeze.

Domeki was not sure that he could trust the dark-haired girl when she stated that she was fine but his suspicion was mostly due to the fact that she appeared to be crying - not to mention the overall unhealthy cast about her. Still, he knew that it wasn't in his rights to argue with her - but that didn't mean that he couldn't stick around a little while, to see if she needed anything.

"Are you cold?" Domeki asked conversationally, once he was close enough to speak without having to raise his voice. "The snow seems to be piling up."

It soon become clear to Cheryl that the other two were in no hurry to leave, despite the falling temperatures and the falling snow. Just briefly, she played with the idea of wandering off or even seeking shelter under the slightly spooky roof of the haunted house but she soon realized that doing so would only lead to thoughts and memories she'd be much happier leaving behind.

She sighed lightly as she allowed the last of the balls to tumble from her slowly numbing fingers and, breathing warm air into her cupped hands, she walked over to join the two. "Not to be the voice of reason or anything, but it'd probably be a good time to find someplace a bit warmer, hm?"

The snow was bothersome to Merope, but she faired colder weather before in less than what she wore now. Granted, she was freezing but would not complain about her fairing,"Oh, yes, it is piling some." Merope didn't really like strangers, but she wasn't going to bother complaining or disappearing. The black haired girl grew quiet when another appeared, her eyes darting to the new person.

Merope said nothing, looking at the trashy teddybear, losing herself in her train of thought. Once she came back, she simply nodded.

Gosh, her hands were kind of cold, she looked them over a bit. When she saw no signs of frost bite, she shrugged.

Domeki offered the blond girl who had deemed to join them a curious glance. He did find it a touch odd that there were so many who would dare to venture out in the cold and in the snow - but he guessed that it probably seemed just as strange to the two of them that he would be out and about, especially with what could be considered a weapon in his hand. Still, his glance returned to the darker haired girl just in time to notice that she appeared to be having a close look at her hands.

Never one to bother with stupid questions, Domeki simply slid the multicolored mittens from his hands and held them out toward the dark-haired girl. "Here. These might help."

The curious glance from the boy earned him a faintly strained smile but Cheryl's attention wandered easily away from him. The cold and the snow were an annoyance, that much was true, but she could remember reading in the strangely connected journals about the creatures which were said to be lurking just outside of the town - and they would probably be a bit more than an annoyance should they happen to wander through this area.

Or Cheryl could just be getting paranoid once again.

"I can't remember the last time I saw snow like this," she continued conversationally. It was something to fill the empty gaps, if nothing else. "If it doesn't let up, we all might be snowed in by morning."

Due to being so unused to kindness, she watched him remove his gloves and offer them directly to her. She felt overwhelming emotion and was unsure if she was actually allowed to have them or if they would be ripped away for laughs. "A-Are you sure? I don't want to put you out..." She bit down on her bottom lip, gripping onto the stuffed plushy bear.

"It's not too bad," She moved her mouth a little to the right. Being that she was homeless before coming here, she was used to freezing without such warmth. "I lived in worse."

"It's fine," Domeki responded, shaking his head. It made him a bit sad, in a vague sort of way, to see someone who was so surprised by a simple gesture of kindness but that only made him feel all the more determined to make sure that she was alright. "I can keep my hands warm by keeping them in my pockets and there are other gloves back at the thrift store that I can use later on."

"I think he looks pretty safe," Cheryl confided in a mock whisper. She eyed the kid up and down for a moment but even her own deep paranoia couldn't find anything to complain about. True, he did appear to be carrying a weapon but that seemed to be more a sign of sanity in a place like this rather than the opposite. Then again, she could just be thinking that since she was armed herself. "Better than having your fingers get frostbite anyway, right?"

"Yea? You must've come from someplace really cold," Cheryl responded with a slight laugh. Wrapping her arms around herself, she did her best not to shiver against the weather. "I don't think it ever got this bad in Portland."

Merope waited until he was positive before she even took them from the man and put the mittens on her hands. While Merope didn't like men really, she always found it better to stand next to them as she was so used to them being the leader in the situation. She would prefer not take any side or speak simply because she felt she had to.

"It was December Thirty-first. I was homeless." Merope didn't say more than that, she felt they didn't need to know.
