Who: Samuel T. Anders, Sid Jenkins, OTA
What: Gym inspection
When: Day 5, Afternoon
Where: The gym
Rating: TBA
Status: Active

According to the map, the gym was somewhere in the direction of the thrift store and the majority of the buildings, then down, which he only understood because it was the opposite direction of the church. At least that's what he thought the map said. Whoever drew it wasn't exactly clear.

Upon approach, the building looked like many gyms he had seen before, just grown over and decaying like most of the buildings. There was a trail among the dirt and dust where people had come and gone from a common door, which told him that this was one of the more frequented spaces around here.

"Do you think someone's in there?" Sam asked over his shoulder to Sid. Every building he had been in so far had been occupied except for the Thrift store, which was eerie when empty. After the fall, Anders wasn't extremely fond of going into building alone, especially after one nearly collapsed on him. To himself, Anders wondered if there would be a setup already for pyramid, only to remember that no one here knew what it was.

The pursuit of pyramid wasn't because he was aching to play. Pyramid had become his distraction from horrible situations and a safe way to blow off steam.

"That's a point," Sid replied, loosening his grip on his own lighter and letting the flame drop away. It wasn't like there were an awful lot of lighters in the gas station, after all. At least not that Sid had noticed. Just that one display.

At the exclamation, Sid jumped, startled, but then he winced out of sympathy. "Ouch..." he muttered softly. "Come over here by this wall, mate, this is a standard locker room. Nothing over here but open space," he suggested and lit his lighter again just in case Anders needed a guide to where Sid was standing, so that he wouldn't hurt himself again.

With a few more grumbles and 'how lame am I?' sighs, Anders made his way toward the light. The knife clanked against a locker as it brushed it on his way over. "There gods damn better be balls in there."

For the first time since early this morning, Anders was reminded of how wrong the whole situation was. He'd kept up a relatively good demeanor because there was no imminent danger and he did well at times like this after a lot of practice. Now, his foot hurt and he was digging around for balls in a locker room when he should be out there helping.

Maybe there would be something helpful in the office.

Sid set his jaw against a laugh and coughed to cover it when Anders went on grumbling. "If she said there was, there probably is, yeah?" he said with a small smirk he couldn't help from crossing his face. He did genuinely feel for the guy, but...come on, it was a little funny.

Letting the lighter die out again and shoving it into his pocket once more, Sid made his way carefully into the office. Then he frowned slightly. There was very little light peeking in from the single, dirty window. It'd be hard as hell to see what they were doing, but Anders had a good point about not wasting the lighter fluid. "Grope around in the dark or compromise and take turns using our lighters?" he asked.

"Yeah," Anders answered, fishing around in his jacket's breast pocket for the lighter. He pulled it out and lit it. The faint light it gave was just enough to make out the outlines of the furniture in the room.

There was a desk and some other things, but when he laid eyes on the cabinets, he let go of the light and passed it to his left hand where he held it between knuckles while he grasped the knife. "Here we go."

Triumphantly, he tugged open the first door. An underwhelming empty cabinet greeted him. "Try the next one."

Glad that Anders agreed to lighting the room at least a little, even if it meant wasting lighter fluid, Sid made his way to the next cabinet over once the other man announced he ought to try the next. He looked curiously over into the cabinet Anders had tried and understood immediately why. It was completely empty.

So, Sid pulled open the doors of the cabinet in front of himself and frowned. "Next," he announced as he looked over the medical supplies there. "This one's just Band-Aids and shit," he added.

Likewise, Anders peeked over into Sid's cabinet. The bandages were dusty like the majority of the office. The whole thing made him wonder what his old apartment on Caprica must look like now. Probably much the same, or fallen off the high rise by now. "Think they're still good?" he inquired about the medical supplies.

He ducked past Sid on his way over to the final cabinet. As he pulled it open, he struck the flint on the lighter and it illuminated the collection of balls of all shapes and sizes. "Score."

Sid shrugged. "Maybe..." he mused. "The bandages at least. I dunno about the peroxide or whatever...does that stuff go bad?" he asked, raising an eyebrow curiously as he turned his head to watch Anders move past him.

"Yeah? Safe," Sid said with a wide grin, abandoning the current cabinet to move over to the one Anders was looking in. "Right, this is a football," he said, picking up one a round, black and white checked pattern ball and holding it up. "Too big for Pyramid?"

The massive ball was the size of a large melon. "Way too big." Besides being round, the only similarity it held to a pyramid ball was the fact that it had hexagon patches that made up the outside.

Sam dug around and pulled out some very oddly shaped balls, some having the proper girth, but then being more egg shaped than ball shaped. "What are all these for?"
