Day Five - Early Evening
Who: Sid Jenkins and Cielo
What: Chance meeting
When: Day 5, Early evening
Where: The theater
Rating: PG-13 for language...it's Sid, after all.
Status: Incomplete; dropped

The day was dragging and the sirens had gone past the point of annoying and well into the point of making Sid want to punch someone in the bloody face. His head was pounding now. After meeting up with Anders, even though Logan had said to stay put and to keep his 'damn head down,' Sid was itching to move around. There had to be a telly somewhere, right? Or a computer. Something. He was bored out of his mind already.

Dragging his feet as he walked slowly down the dirt road, Sid looked around as he went. Everything looked in shambles or worse. Even though he was restless, Sid was starting to get tired, his feet hurt, and he didn't feel like walking anymore. Dropping down onto the steps of the building in front of him, Sid took out his journal, the cigarettes, and a lighter. With one hand, he put a cigarette between his lips and lit it while, with the other, he poised his pen and jotted down a note to Logan. He tried to ignore how it reminded him of having to leave notes for his parents when he went out before he'd been old enough to take care of himself in their absence of concern for him.

Then, he stretched out and laid down on the top stair, closing his eyes. With a groan, he opened them again when the alarm sounded loudly almost as if in response. "Bollocks..." he muttered with a frown, staring up at the sky.

Optimism just came easily to Cielo. Had ever since he'd first awakened to the idea of having emotions. Being negative and seeing the bad side to everything was just too much work and what was the point of taking in and dwelling on emotions that hurt when there were so many good things to feel? Sure, he knew that just living made it impossible not to feel bad now and again but it just seemed more natural to go for the good over the bad. "S'true," he nodded his agreement to Sid's comment about it just being a waiting game once a wish was made. "Though I guess it's karma too, yea? If you did a lotta good then you know you have a good wish coming back at ya. If ya put a lotta bad out there then ya might be waiting an extra long time for your wish to come around." He paused and blinked when he realized that he didn't quite catch all of what Sid had said. "Spliff?"

"Wrapping a coat around your head?" Cielo tipped his head as he thought about that. It did seem like it could a long way in muffling the noise but there was the slight problem of how to breathe. Then again, if you didn't wrap it too tightly, you should be alright. Laughing a bit, he shook his head. "I dunno. I'm kinda hoping that whoever's playing with the siren'll just have mercy and knock it off. Even they gotta have a little bit of mercy, yea?"

Karma. Huh. Sid wasn't really sure where he stood on the karma scale. He'd never done anything inherently good, at least not as far as he was concerned, but on the other hand, he had also taken a lot of shit from his friends and his family. Maybe he'd be on the good side of the scale. Then again there was the whole thing with Cass trying to kill herself because he'd stood her up for a date and Chris dying because Sid had pretended not to notice that spliff and his heart condition probably shouldn't mix. The latter thought made Sid frown slightly.

"Right..." he mused quietly. "Spliff? Oh, right. 's just what we call marijuana where I come from," he replied with a shrug. It was going to take some getting used to, the whole clash of cultures and language barriers where Sid didn't think there should be any.

Smirking, Sid raised his eyebrows. "Right, well, I want to muffle the sound, not asphixiate myself, mate," he joked. "'m hoping they'll stop it soon, myself, but 'm not holding my breath or anything for it. I think I'm gonna head back up to the petrol station and give it a try, though. It was nice meetin' ya, mate," he said, dropping his spent cigarette and crushing it out under his sneaker as he held his hand out again to shake.
