Day Five, Early Afternoon
Who: Light Yagami, Locke Lamora, & OTA (in case other church denizens want in?)
What: It's moving day
When: Day Five, early afternoon (?)
Where: The Church
Rating: TBD
Status: Complete

Locke lounged lazily on the steps of the church. He found a strange bittersweet amusement in the thought that, if he were to put out a bronze kettle and if he were to shackle his arms, then he could all but found the Order of Perelandro on a new world. Of course, the garish purple shirt and blindingly yellow pants which he was still wearing - and which were still all too visible under his more formal and old-fashioned overcoat - was nothing compared to the traditional white robes of the order but one did have to make do.

Now that he officially invited a complete stranger to share living space at the church, Locke took a second to question whether it was such a good idea, especially since he hadn't thought to ask the few others who were staying at the church, but he soon found that he really didn't feel all that concerned - in a situation like this, it only seemed natural to share living spaces.

Locke whistled tunelessly as he rooted briefly in the frayed knapsack sitting between his feet. He had managed to scavenge a number of materials which could be put together to make interesting tools but there was only a number of these tools which he would be willing to work on publicly - a long rope of twined and knotted together sheets was one of the few and this was what he chose to work on as he waited for the newcomer to show.

Light eventually found his way to the church, holding his few 'belongings' to him closely as he continued to move. He saw the man on the steps and rushed up to the church a bit eagerly. After spending even a few hours outside of 'society,' he was already yearning for something a bit more close to home.

Once he reached the stairs, he slowed, observing his surroundings as closely as possible. "...Hello...Are you the one who invited me here?"

The sound of approaching footsteps caused Locke to glance up from his busywork - which, of course, caused him to tie the knot he had been working on all wrong. This caused him to curse briefly under his breath, but the tangle of sheets was set aside as soon as the young man was close enough to speak.

"That I am," he agreed with a friendly smile. Standing from the steps, he took a moment to survey the young man before him but he found that very little could be easily told from first impressions - especially when he was working at a slight handicap. "I'm Leocanto Kosta which means that you must be...?"

"Oh!" he bowed slightly. "My name is Yagami Light. You are the one I spoke with over the journals, correct?" He said before pulling himself upright again.

(Sorry for short reply. Gotta get to bed now)

"Again, that would be me," Locke - or Leo, as he was currently naming himself - nodded to the question. He raised his eyebrows at the bow but only because he wasn't accustomed to some of his familiar customs being used in a place such as this. It didn't take him long to perform a small bow of his own - though nothing as regal or as elaborate as would be seen in most courts.

"Welcome to the church," he continued with a broad gesture that included the small white building and all its trappings in its meaning. "I'm not sure where you'd be most comfortable but there's plenty of room for all of us - as long as you don't mind sharing your living space with a few others."

Light was surprised by the gesture as well, not used to seeing people outside of his culture bowing back.

"Sharing is fine by me. I'd rather have extra people around in this world than extra privacy."

"Hm, is that so?" Leo quirked an eyebrow in a show of slight surprise and the corner of his lips pulled up into a slight grin. "I think you must be the very first person I've heard say that. Almost everyone wishes for a friend or loved one or what have you, but most seem to think that it'd be good to limit the number of people about."

His grin spread slightly as he briefly eyed the young man. "You're something of an unique one, aren't you?"

"There's strength in numbers and I have nothing to hide," he lied, "I'd prefer not to be seen naked by anyone else, but other than that, it's fine." he was glad the man was enthusiastic now, made it easier to gain trust if they already liked you for some reason. "I tend to try and be different, bring myself up from the grime in the world. It takes dedication, which I have."

He looked past the man. "Is it okay to look inside?"

"Privacy hasn't really been a problem so far. As I mentioned, there are a few others in the church but I've never really had even the slightest problem keeping to myself - so you should be fine." Leo cocked an eyebrow to the comment on raising from the grime in the world. Though such words did appeal to one who felt that he had risen from the grime and filth of a corrupt city - even if he was admittedly a bit corrupt himself - Leo wasn't yet sure that he was willing to put forth too much trust in someone whom he had just met. "Is that so? You brought yourself from the grime through your own dedication - which I take it to mean that you've accomplished great things?" He broke into a light grin and shook his head. "Not that I mean to pry but you have made me curious."

"Of course," Leo nodded and moved aside, gesturing for Light to enter the church before him. "Look around as much as you like."

Light moved past him and did just that, looking around him and absorbing his surroundings. "Yes, I worked hard even as a child to never go against the law or the rules and to spot those who do. I studied the law to great extents and was even studying to become a member of the Japanese National Police Agency." he sighed. "I was in college for that before being brought here...and it took a lot to get there. I was the top student in all of Japan and I studied relentlessly."

Leo followed Light into the church in a leisurely fashion and he chose to lounge comfortably against the wall as the younger man had a look around. Again, there was a slight show of interest when Light alluded to the fact that he had always been one to work solidly with the law and Leo made a mental note to be careful around the youth - even if he did feel fairly confident that he had very little to worry over.

"An overly intelligent young man with a deep interest in law? I believe I heard of someone just like that also trapped in this place," he mused lazily. "You should get along well here - it seems that most everyone has a strong interest in upholding the ideals of law and order." And what a struggle it was to keep bitterness from his tone as he said that but Leo was deep enough into his persona as a priest to hide his true intention rather well.

"Ah... If you're talking about Ryuzaki, then I know him but I don't much like him." he set his few belongings down and began looking more thoroughly.

"A rivalry?" Leo asked casually. He likely knew better than to try to pry into the matters which might be considered private but his curiosity was piqued - just what could cause hard feelings between two youth who, at first glance, seemed so much alike? He felt that there must be a story lying somewhere within all of this. "I only talked very briefly to this Ryuzaki but he seemed an interesting sort of guy..."

"Rivals...you could say that. More like I was a falsely accused suspect in a genocide case, and even when all the evidence proved me innocent, he continued to place me as a suspect and treat me like one. To the extent of handcuffing me to him every day, all day, for months."

Light turned to Locke. "This looks like a good place. If your offer is still up, I will be glad to stay here." There was something in the man's eyes...Something Light felt wary of. He would keep a watch out.

"Ah, really? He saw you as someone capable of murder?" Again, Leo offered him a guardedly interested glance but his curiosity to the facts of the case could wait until he could draw them out in a more natural fashion. Still, it did cast a new and interesting light on the two young men in question. "I've heard of people like that - who proclaim a person guilty long before a trial can be had; it's no wonder that there's...hard feelings between the two of you."

"The offer stands and you're welcome to stay," he nodded and offered a cheerful smile. "You'll likely want to let the others staying here know that you're around but, otherwise, make yourself comfortable."

"Yeah...no wonder..." Light placed a hand on his hip as he placed the other to his chin. "Hmm...Do they read the journals often? I could announce myself there."

"It seems like everyone checks the journals at least once a day," Leo nodded slightly after a moment of thought. "I'm sure they'd see it if you wrote something and, if not, they'll run into you around here before too long."

"Certainly," Leo nodded. He gestured vaguely to the large open room they were standing in - clearly the main room of the church, still populated with dust covered pews and an altar at the far end. "You can likely set up wherever you'd like. I don't believe things are very formal here."

Light nodded. "Well, I'll go looking for one then. Thank you again." He bowed once more before grabbing his stuff up to go searching for a room.

((OOC: Wanna end it here or maybe have one more reply from you? It seems pretty much finished.))
