Entry tags:!incomplete, day 05, dean winchester, location: church, luna lovegood, sam winchester

Who: Luna Lovegood, Dean and Sam Winchester
What: Beer and Pixie Sticks
When: Evening
Where: Outside the Church
Rating: TBA (Dean has an interesting vocab at times)
Status: Active

Night was in the wings to fall, Luna noticed as she sat on the steps at the front of the church. Back in the pants, button up shirt, suspenders and jean jacket she had worn not long before, it was cool but not extremely cold for her. Growing up in England and going on regular trips to Icelandic countries tended to keep one used to cold temperatures as a rule.

Dean had specified that his and Sam's father had been his height, when she had asked if either of their parents had been half giants, but he had never said how tall he  was. So, perhaps, he was another extremely tall individual. The Second Sam she had met that morning when he had arrived with Martha had also had attributes of a quarter giant. But, perhaps, America was full of such tall people. Visits to Sweden had revealed even larger individuals, but everyone knew that the water was magically inclined to overly large Muggles in that country. It was quite common knowledge.

Eating a small bar of chocolate, and avoiding the small cluster of multicolored dextrosey Pixie Walking Sticks in her lap, Luna was more interested in inspecting the clouds above than watching for any approaching persons. The obscured sky was easier to contemplate than some subjects that she would rather avoid her mind lighting upon.

Nightmares of a dungeon, Confoundus Charms, what porcupine pudding tasted of...

What Dean meant and what hidden reaction his fingers brushing against hers brought seemed to be very different things. After he ate the tubule of pixie's stick, she watched his face for a second, "Your judgement?" She consumed her own stick, following it with drinking some more of the bitterly gross beer. Although it did not have animal products inside its aluminum clothing, it was definitely not going to become one of her favorite drinks.

She watched Dean's actions with curious blue eyes, smiling a quick smile at his wink. Before her expression transitioned into the dreamy, slightly nostalgic tint that came with speaking of the happy past. The memory of her mother telling her stories about the constellations they created on those happy nights, that was one of the strongest that she had used for her Patronus charm. Which was why it took the shape of a rabbit, like those that would hop about in that little clearing.

It may have been fifteen years before, but some moments were still as clear as a bell in her mind. Even while others began to fray from being examined and cherished so much.

Luna sipped her beer again as she attentively watched and listened to Dean's contribution to the new map of stars. "Oh, I can!" With a warm glance over at the physical man himself, she asked Sam, "What do you see Sam?"

If Sam hadn't been so generally annoyed, not only with his brother's misplaced flirtatious streak but also with the never ending sirens that had only allowed him a couple hours sleep before they'd started going off at dawn, he might have thought that Dean's braggadocio was laughable. As it was he could only shoot Dean an aggravated sideways glance as his brother opened his beer by his ear, reaching up to wipe away the drops. "Thanks, Dean," he said sarcastically, once again stifling the urge to reach out and shove him from behind.

Sam gave a humorless huff of a laugh at Dean's constellation, sliding his eyes to the right as he shook his head and missing Dean's apologetic look completely. He didn't know why being called a protector rubbed him the wrong way, except that somewhere underneath he felt like Dean was laughing at him. Was it so off base to think that Dean was a little bored and looking for some distraction wherever he could find it? Sam loved his brother, but he also knew that he had ways of finding ways of entertaining himself with whatever attractive member of the opposite sex was around at the moment. And while that was fine while they moving through a town, it wasn't going to be as easy to untangle himself in this place after his fun was had.

He took another long drink of his beer, trying not to concentrate on the taste of it as it went down. Sam glanced upwards at Luna's question. "Hmm," he hummed to himself. "There, a Chevy Impala." He said, pointing randomly. "Wheels in the sky keep on turnin'." He said, hiding a smile behind another drink.
