Entry tags:!incomplete, day 05, dean winchester, location: church, luna lovegood, sam winchester

Who: Luna Lovegood, Dean and Sam Winchester
What: Beer and Pixie Sticks
When: Evening
Where: Outside the Church
Rating: TBA (Dean has an interesting vocab at times)
Status: Active

Night was in the wings to fall, Luna noticed as she sat on the steps at the front of the church. Back in the pants, button up shirt, suspenders and jean jacket she had worn not long before, it was cool but not extremely cold for her. Growing up in England and going on regular trips to Icelandic countries tended to keep one used to cold temperatures as a rule.

Dean had specified that his and Sam's father had been his height, when she had asked if either of their parents had been half giants, but he had never said how tall he  was. So, perhaps, he was another extremely tall individual. The Second Sam she had met that morning when he had arrived with Martha had also had attributes of a quarter giant. But, perhaps, America was full of such tall people. Visits to Sweden had revealed even larger individuals, but everyone knew that the water was magically inclined to overly large Muggles in that country. It was quite common knowledge.

Eating a small bar of chocolate, and avoiding the small cluster of multicolored dextrosey Pixie Walking Sticks in her lap, Luna was more interested in inspecting the clouds above than watching for any approaching persons. The obscured sky was easier to contemplate than some subjects that she would rather avoid her mind lighting upon.

Nightmares of a dungeon, Confoundus Charms, what porcupine pudding tasted of...

Dean spluttered again and set aside his can completely to keep from laugh-choking himself to death. "Balls?" he asked because it was the last thing he had expected to hear out of her mouth. "Uh yeah... What does loopiness have to do with 'balls'?"

She was fantastic, he thought. Not in the sort of You're fantastic, let's fuck type way but in a more attractively naive way. She had no filter but what came out was never uncomplimentary even if it surprised him. He found himself wanting to just sit here with her for hours, hope some of her sanguine spirit would rub off on him.

The way she reacted to being touched by his hand confused him slightly though. She seemed to have little reaction other than interest in what she was seeing. No feeling seemed to have been attached to it. Now that was a first. Usually girls blushed or simpered or something but she didn't. Which served to somehow make him like her even more than he already did. He'd never met anyone like this girl.

"Ah yeah, tea. Can't say I like the stuff. Too, uh, herbal," he said and chuckled lightly, glancing up at the stars and then back to her again.

It was gratifying that at least his kiss on her cheek had produced a response. Even if she did look like he'd given her an electric shock not a kiss. "No, uh I think it's just me right now. Sorry about that," he answered, leaning back and then suddenly Sam was there demanding to know what they were doing. Which meant his brother was probably there to be defender and protector against the big bad Dean. What was with Sam and all the girls he'd met so far? Were they all under his protectorate or what?

"Nothing, dude. We're having a beer and a chat about the stars," he answered in annoyance even though Sam was purposely not looking at him.

Dean was really getting more beer on himself and in the air than in his stomach at this rate, Luna noted as she calmly drank her own disgusting beer. Sadly, he did not seem to know the answer to her question either, "Perhaps, it, like what hedgehog pudding tastes of, will remain a mystery."

Unused to such easy touching, Luna had only outwardly shown that she had been both surprised and pleased. Perhaps it was just that the British in general tended to be a stuffy lot, or mayhaps it was because of the fact that the Wizarding World was a good deal more formal and old fashioned than even their Muggle counterparts. The fact that she intruded into personal space and was highly tactile was quite unusual, although admittedly not the only thing that was.

Although he might not have been able to see it, she did have a reaction to his touch.

It took a second of tilting her head just so to the side, of observing him, before she shook her head once. "It's alright, I do not mind." She really did not, even if he had not been quite attractive in his own right, the fact that Americans seemed to be much more relaxed at times in their interactions was nearly cathartic. Possibly the cathartic part was leant by the fact that no one had mocked anything she had said to her face.

Sam appeared and she smiled broadly up at her quarter giant friend (Dean had said that they did not know where he had come from, after all). With one last drink she finished her beer and cheerily greeted him, "Sam!" If one had not known that they had just not seen each other in twenty-four hours or so, it would be easy to be confused whether she had seen him five minutes before, or weeks in the past. Setting her now empty can aside, she added to Dean's answer. "I was giving Dean pixie walking sticks."

Sam dragged his gaze away from Luna and looked at Dean, a small frown in place as he shot his brother a look that seemed to question, Really? He could sense the annoyance in Dean's tone though it was hard to tell if it was because Sam was interrupting something or if it was because Sam might have implied that Dean was misbehaving in some way. Sam figured it was probably somewhere in between.

He looked back at Luna who was finishing off her can and then greeted him brightly. Maybe too brightly? It was hard to tell. He moved his eyes over to the cans visible just behind Dean. There were a couple of six packs, but only two or three beers missing.

"The stars, huh?" Sam said, glancing upwards. They were visible and seemingly extra bright against the sky. He lowered his gaze back down and then reached for a beer. "Mind if I join you?" he asked, popping the top and settling himself down on the step beside his brother.

He leaned forward as Luna spoke to him. "Your supply must be running low by now. How many do you have left?"
