Entry tags:!incomplete, day 05, dean winchester, location: church, luna lovegood, sam winchester

Who: Luna Lovegood, Dean and Sam Winchester
What: Beer and Pixie Sticks
When: Evening
Where: Outside the Church
Rating: TBA (Dean has an interesting vocab at times)
Status: Active

Night was in the wings to fall, Luna noticed as she sat on the steps at the front of the church. Back in the pants, button up shirt, suspenders and jean jacket she had worn not long before, it was cool but not extremely cold for her. Growing up in England and going on regular trips to Icelandic countries tended to keep one used to cold temperatures as a rule.

Dean had specified that his and Sam's father had been his height, when she had asked if either of their parents had been half giants, but he had never said how tall he  was. So, perhaps, he was another extremely tall individual. The Second Sam she had met that morning when he had arrived with Martha had also had attributes of a quarter giant. But, perhaps, America was full of such tall people. Visits to Sweden had revealed even larger individuals, but everyone knew that the water was magically inclined to overly large Muggles in that country. It was quite common knowledge.

Eating a small bar of chocolate, and avoiding the small cluster of multicolored dextrosey Pixie Walking Sticks in her lap, Luna was more interested in inspecting the clouds above than watching for any approaching persons. The obscured sky was easier to contemplate than some subjects that she would rather avoid her mind lighting upon.

Nightmares of a dungeon, Confoundus Charms, what porcupine pudding tasted of...

It was a mixture of interest and curiosity that Luna watched Dean choked/laughed/spat up his beer. What a strange reaction to a simple question. "I thought Vicodin made people more complimentary," she shrugged as she followed his action enough to lean over and peer closer. Personal space really did not factor into her personality, which others tended to take as they did. With two fingers gingerly touching the bottom of the dark tattoo exposed by his movement.

Concern and old memories flowed up, "They marked you?" The words came out nearly in a whisper, remembering marks in her own skin before they had been magically removed. Brushing the fingerpads of those fingers across the word, "Expired" she shook her head slowly. "That was not very nice. Not nice at all."

Her can of beer was picked up, and far more drunk of it in the next mouthful than before. "Our beer," she began to float back to a more comfortable subject, "Butterbeer, it is sweet and fizzy. Warms you up on cold days." It was something that would certainly come in handy here. "When the snow falls all around, shopping for Christmas presents, a pint makes everything toasty and warm." Fond memories of swirling snowflakes, a bottle of butterbeer held in her hands and sitting out with her parents rose and overtook the ones of Lucius and the dungeons.

Looking at the can again as if it was a foreign creature, she jutted out her bottom lip and then nodded. "I think I could perhaps finish two." Although she was not sure what benefits a pair of honorary titles would gain her, they did sound interesting. After all, she did not know any Honorary Americans.

He grinned, and she smiled right back. She did like his smile. It pulled that scar on his chin up in a fascinating way. His words made her look back up at the sky, "It would be a better view without the clouds obscuring the stars, but still lovely." Another wink, he was very good at that.

"You are welcome," Luna smiled with her reply. On a whim she had slipped a few yellow ones in among the blue. Everyone needed sunshine with their sky. To place them into his pocket, she did have to lean in and reach somewhat over him. Which was an interesting proximity.

"If by complimentary you mean loopy, sure. Vicodin is a heavy painkiller though. Most people only take it if they are in a lot of pain. I've only had to take it once, back when I broke my arm chasing a particularly nasty ghost though a rotting farmhouse and fell through the floor." He wasn't sure why he was explaining that to her but it kind of felt nice to talk about something from his past again. This was the first conversation since it had been jogged back into place that he'd had where he'd gotten the chance to reminisce.

He took a long drink from the can, eyeing her as she moved in to touch his tattoo. The expression on her face was so serious that he wondered what else she was thinking about when she looked at the red-rimmed black ink. He winced slightly as her tiny fingers skimmed the lettering, sending a spark of pain and itch through his bicep again. "No," he agreed. "It wasn't nice. I'm not expired. I'm in my prime." He touched her hand with his free one and smiled softly as he moved it away from his arm. His fingers closed over hers gently for a moment before he released them again to finish the beer in his second can.

"Ah so your beer is more a sort of seasonal thing. Kinda like hot chocolate in America. At least, that's what most kids drink when it's cold. I lean more toward coffee myself."

He continued to smile, watching her as she stayed close. Either she enjoyed his company or she didn't have much of a concept of personal space. It didn't particularly matter which was the case because he liked that she was close. She smelled sweet and sugary or maybe that was just a suggestion brought on by the pixie sticks and her sweet disposition. Regardless, this was pleasant. No balancing act of attraction and guilt the way it was with Shannon. This was pretty carefree and relaxed. Her internal peacefulness was infectious and he found himself simply smiling at her like an idiot but he didn't care.

Which was probably why when she leaned in closer to reach over and put the pixie sticks in his pocket, he didn't resist the impulse to kiss her cheek. It took him by surprise but he played it off with a light laugh. "I think some yellow pixie sticks taste like Luna's smiles," he said, teasing her in hopes she'd smile and not smack him for having taken the liberty.

"Hm," and then after a moment. "What does loopiness have to do with 'balls?'" That she was still curious about. "Does it boost testosterone levels?" Luna visibly perked up when he spoke of ghosts, "A ghost? Why were you chasing a ghost?" Didn't he know that ghosts could be a lot faster than humans? That they could float through walls? This seemed interesting.

She had not meant to hurt him in touching the mark, far more used to magically attached tattoos or open wounds than this odd middle ground. Dean gently pulled her outstretched hand away from the tattoo, and the sight of his much larger hand over hers was sort of fascinating. When he released her fingers after a moment, she followed his lead and picked up her own can of beer.

"I like hot chocolate as well," with a firm little nod, she punctuated the fact. Just before wrinkling her nose up slightly. "Coffee?" She shook her blonde head, "I prefer tea. With honey and milk."

Part of the reason that she stayed close was because he was radiating heat, the other was because she saw no reason that she should move. If he had told or asked her to, she would have, but otherwise she could not see a reason that it was imperative. Luna had always found it easier to be peaceful than anything else. Things might come and go, dangers and frightening things, but as long as she could see the sky on occasion, dance when she wanted to and look for her magical creatures, there was little reason to be anything else but herself.

If the kiss to her cheeks surprised him, than the sudden lips against her skin certainly surprised her into blinking. "I don't know if they do." And then she smiled, "Are all Americans this affectionate?"

Sam had been making his way to the church in order to check up on Luna. Something about their conversation the day before had bothered him. Not only that but he'd begun to feel like Luna was the only person in the glass cage that didn't seem to have any kind of expectation of him. Dean always seemed to be studying him for some cue on how to act and Shannon was always looking to him for some way to get out, as had Andy before they'd had their sort of falling out. Even though sometimes he didn't think he understood everything that Luna was saying, he felt comfortable with her and felt like he got her general meaning.

He wasn't sure if he was ready to speak to Andy yet or not, but it'd been a couple of days and now that Dean was there he didn't feel quite as on edge. Besides, he knew Andy probably hadn't exactly had that great of a time of things, considering he'd been popping Vicoden. In fact, Sam felt a little guilty for not checking in sooner.

He moved towards the church, spotting Luna's blonde hair in the dusk and Dean's familiar form. He was about to call out to them when he saw Dean lean into the distance between them and kiss Luna on the cheek. His steps slowed slightly as he tried to work out exactly might be going on between Luna and his brother. Course he knew that his brother was a big flirt, but with his constant teasing of Shannon and now making some kind of move on Luna he suddenly felt a little uncomfortable.

"Hey," he said, raising his eyebrows in a questioning expression towards his brother as he stepped up in front of them. He spotted the open cans of beer and his look shifted into one of slight exasperation. If Luna had reacted the way she had to pixie sticks, he had no idea what a couple of cans of beer would do to her. He forced a smile and looked at Luna, pointedly avoiding looking at Dean. "What are you doing?"
