Day 5 - Early Evening
Who: Dean Winchester & Shannon Rutherford
What: Shower time!
When: Early Evening
Where: The gym
Rating: R (language, nudity - definitely NSFW)
Status: Complete

Dean was whistling an old Van Halen standard as he made his way back into town and then through it. The streets were beginning to look familiar now. He'd only managed to track 3 miles or so of the glass wall at the south side of town. The interlude with Tink had been a lot of fun. It had been a while since he'd gone exploring just for the sake of exploring. Now he was one his way back with the promise of a shower -- and seeing Shannon.

As he walked, he mused. He didn't have friends. Well not usually. But if he had to name anyone as a friend, it'd be her, Shannon. Probably his best friend. There was an understanding between them of something not quite tangible. They recognized each other in a certain way that he didn't figure anyone else could. Which was a little confusing. It both made him feel a lot less indignant for having to be here and sorry. Sorry because even though Cassie had dumped him - rather painfully so - he felt like it was cheating her to be attracted to Shannon. Not to mention he'd picked up on some kind of vibe between Shannon and his brother. That spelled trouble if he got involve, he knew it.

Yet here he was, swinging open the door of the gym and stepping inside. Still whistling, he wandered the dark rooms and halls, following the old and disheveled signs toward the showers. There were, of course, separate showers for men and women so he peeked his head into the locker room for the women and called out. "Hey, Super Girl, did you beat me here?"

Shannon gave Dean a small, impish smile in response to him telling her that the more recent nickname was still in place. Well, at least he didn't hate her, it seemed like. She'd hate her...that had to have been one severe case of blue balls and normally Shannon never caused that. Unless, of course, she was just being mean. She'd done it to a few guys, but not ones like Dean. Not ones that saved her life.

But when he waved an arm for her to leave first and gave her one of those smiles that had attracted her to him in the first place, Shannon relaxed. Okay, he wasn't mad. That was good. She smirked back and gave a playful roll of her eyes. "I fucking wish there was a chariot," she laughed. The second part of his statement stung a little, if only because she'd just talked to the Doctor and Sam the night before about not having a home, but she didn't let it show on her face. "As close as we're gonna get, anyway, right?" she asked playfully.

Once again, Shannon wrapped her arms around herself to block the cold as best she could when a breeze picked up and she could already feel the chunks of hair framing her face getting stiff as they froze. That was right about the time when she realized just how uncomfortable she was without a bra or a pair of panties, not to mention the fact that she hadn't dried off before getting dressed. The sooner they got back to the museum, the better. Now she was definitely locking herself in one of the back rooms, if not only to finish herself off, but to lay her clothes out by the torch to dry while she did it.

Her smile annoyed him and he tried not to look at her again. He felt stupid. Entirely and utterly like an ass. I risked Sam for her, he thought. Which seemed like the unpardonable sin right now because he was both beating himself up for not having been able to brush it all off and finish what they'd started after nothing was found to suggest anyone was going to catch them in the act and he was making nice with her when what he saw when he looked at her was a pale comparison to what he wanted. Such a shallow and unfair thing, he supposed, since he'd been fine with it when the moment had presented itself.

"Yeah. Chariot equals feet in this scenario. Guess I'm not magically delicious or anything. Sorry about that," he quipped darkly, his eyes adjusting slowly to the sun so that he appeared to be squinting at everything like a newborn baby might do to the outside world. He waited long enough, holding the door, for her to slip outside, and then let it go. Then he was off at a clip that wasn't exactly speedy but it was upbeat and determined. He was getting her back to the museum fast as he could manage. He'd promised Luna he'd come see her and now that there didn't seem to be a reason to postpone, he was so going. He'd get the fuck out of dodge and emoville and land in the place where pixie sticks and frogmen roamed. It sounded perfect to him.

"Well at least you're not wearing the hideous dress from before," he said as though they'd been discussing it when really it had been a total non-sequitur due to the fact that he couldn't think of anything more to say. He felt like a fraud. Like a scam artist. He'd been not 24 hours ago discussing his mother's death by demon with Sam. Sam who had said Dean was the best person he knew. Well Sam could never know that Dean would sacrafice their relationship for a disinterested girl. Ever.
