Day 5 - Early Evening
Who: Dean Winchester & Shannon Rutherford
What: Shower time!
When: Early Evening
Where: The gym
Rating: R (language, nudity - definitely NSFW)
Status: Complete

Dean was whistling an old Van Halen standard as he made his way back into town and then through it. The streets were beginning to look familiar now. He'd only managed to track 3 miles or so of the glass wall at the south side of town. The interlude with Tink had been a lot of fun. It had been a while since he'd gone exploring just for the sake of exploring. Now he was one his way back with the promise of a shower -- and seeing Shannon.

As he walked, he mused. He didn't have friends. Well not usually. But if he had to name anyone as a friend, it'd be her, Shannon. Probably his best friend. There was an understanding between them of something not quite tangible. They recognized each other in a certain way that he didn't figure anyone else could. Which was a little confusing. It both made him feel a lot less indignant for having to be here and sorry. Sorry because even though Cassie had dumped him - rather painfully so - he felt like it was cheating her to be attracted to Shannon. Not to mention he'd picked up on some kind of vibe between Shannon and his brother. That spelled trouble if he got involve, he knew it.

Yet here he was, swinging open the door of the gym and stepping inside. Still whistling, he wandered the dark rooms and halls, following the old and disheveled signs toward the showers. There were, of course, separate showers for men and women so he peeked his head into the locker room for the women and called out. "Hey, Super Girl, did you beat me here?"

Grinning to herself, Shannon felt justified, then. If he was enjoying present company, then she wasn't the only one and that was decidedly good. It made her feel better about being so glad that he was there. She liked spending time with Dean. He made her smile. Shit, he made her laugh and, most importantly, he made her feel pretty.

Shannon took the liberty of sneaking a peek when Dean kicked away his boxers and it took a conscious effort not to allow the approval to slide over her features. He'd gotten into the shower then and she winced for him when he gasped. She was so not looking forward to that part. At all.

"Oh, I don't care; look all you want," she replied with a shrug. "If I was shy, I'd have kicked you out before getting naked, don't you think?" she asked, hissing in air through her teeth as she leaned her head under the water. The water felt like icy needles on her scalp. "Fuck. Oh, Jesus that's worse than the ocean!" she gasped, standing up again and throwing her wet hair back reflexively to wipe her face. That was, decidedly, a big mistake, because when it slapped back against her shoulders, she let out another gasp of surprise at the cold and felt goosebumps break out over her entire body. Shivering and teeth chattering, Shannon decided to brush it off because the longer she stood there in shock from the cold, the longer it would take to get the shower done...thus, the longer before she could put on warm, dry clothes again. Even if they were ugly as all hell.

She lathered her hair and very nearly moaned at the feel of soap in her hair. It took almost the whole bottle to get a lather out of it, her hair was so disgustingly dirty from the length of time between proper showers, but it felt amazing to actually feel the grime coming off her hair really and truly for the first time in what seemed like forever. Taking a deep breath, she steeled herself and then put her head back under the water, gasping again even as she moved her hands rapidly through and over her hair to wash out the shampoo. "Oh my God...I don't even want to actually get under that spray to wash myself..." she whined, laughing a little as she straightened more slowly this time and leaned her head to squeeze the excess water from her hair away from the rest of her body. "How you doin' over there, Hulk?" she asked, looking over at him and taking solace that the shadows in the room afforded her, she hoped, the ability to let her eyes roam over his shoulders, chest, back and hips. She stopped herself there knowing that anything lower would be less than impressive given the temperature of the water and she didn't think that was entirely fair to him.

Can you really stand three feet away from me when I'm naked and not look? What's wrong with you? Shannon wondered in Dean's general direction without actually saying it aloud. Or worse...what's wrong with me that you don't want to?

When she mentioned the ocean it suddenly occurred to Dean that they'd never really talked about when/where in time the assholes running this place had yanked her from. Sam had made it sound like she'd been on a remote island and it hadn't been fun. She'd also mentioned a plane crash herself. Putting two and two together, along with her statement about not having had sex in a long time, he thought he knew what her story was and he didn't like it. She must either be completely emotionless, except when drinking or around Sam - sigh - or she did a great job of hiding it all under the guise of sarcasm and witty retorts. It seemed suddenly important for him to discover which it was and he hoped it was the latter if he was honest with himself.

"I see you peeking," he grumbled playfully as he shivered under the icy water. "Not much to see in this freeze, huh? Sorry. But I'm enjoying the show." He grinned, but he hadn't seen her look at all, he was simply teasing. It was way too dark in his corner and way too cold for him to think much about it all right now. Sure she was standing over there naked but his body wasn't responding anymore in the normal way. Which was fine with him. Well no, the fuck it wasn't fine but he had to be fine with it right now. For Sam.

Thinking about Sam in the shower when there's a naked girl nearby. That's fucking sick, dude.

He laughed at himself and shivered, moving to soap his hair with his tiny half-bar. His fingers were starting to shake and he knew he couldn't stay under here much longer before he became an Deancicle. That thought made him laugh again and the soap shot out of his hand, skittering across the tiles into some dark corner out of his immediate line of sight.

"Shit!" Dean growled and looked instinctively over at Shannon to explain that he'd need more soap now. And stopped. It had been a bad move because now all he could do was watch her. In spite of the cold, she managed to look - what? Beautiful? Really, again with this whole one-sided appreciation thing? Still... The meager light streaming in from some high, slender window spilled across her skin every so often as she moved. She glistened under the spray of water, every curve in fluid motion. "Dude," he said under his breath and averted his eyes before she had a chance to squint through gloom and catch him staring.

"Um, I dropped the soap. Good thing this isn't boarding school, right?" he said more loudly so that she could hear him.
