Who: The Doc and George
Where: On the road from the thrift store to the carnival
When: Let's call it 7?
Rating: TBD
Status: Active

What was with the alarms? Really, the Doctor didn't quite get it. He had slept well enough in spite of the strange noises (dubbed smoke monster by Shannon) that flowed from the treeline and battered trees and the museum alike. It was like a tornado had ripped through bits of the wood that buffered the town from it's glass enclave.

Just because he was a bit annoyed with not being able to sleep, didn't mean that the Doctor couldn't be productive. So, at the first blow of the alarm the Doctor was up and moving and on his way to the Thrift store. Step one was to try and find what he could to put together an amplifier for his sonic pulse. Emerging from the thrift store, arms laden with wires and bits of metal and a few small tools, it didn't appear that he actually had anything really suitable for making his speaker. Then again, to the naked eye he just had a bunch of scrap.

Awkwardly one of the coils unravelled from his grasp and threatened to trip him. "Oh, fantastic," he muttered, trying to contort so that his right hand could grab it. He thought for a moment his pinky finger could reach. No dice.

The Doctor was kind of happy to see that she liked the coat. Really, when it came down to it, one of the things he really liked was making people happy - and it looked like when it came to the coat he'd managed just that.

The Doctor shook his head. "Nothing yet, I'm not seeing anything that might be of any use." He squinted between the shelves and aside from what he'd already managed to salvage, it didn't look like there was too much there for him to work with.

"Hey George - you never did say, where and when are you from again?"

Between wearing the coat and hearing the Doctor's answer to her question, George had already picked up a tshirt, sweatshirt and a pair of ragged, torn jeans. They were more comfortable looking than what she was wearing, in any case.

She turned around to face him when he asked her his question. "Oh, Seattle." She shrugged. "2008."

Waving her new found clothes at him, she motioned for the back. "I'm gonna go try these on, and then you can tell me where and when you're from!" George said cheerfully. She ran to the back, and in less than ten minutes she was sporting new, comfortable clothes. And, of course, the jacket the Doctor had found.

"Okay, all done!" She said, smiling. "So, what's your story?"

He watched as she claimed more items of clothing for herself. He figured her suit probably wasn't quite as comfortable as his own. He hadn't really ever needed to spend too much time in skirts, or even kilts, but he imagined that having to spend time in the woods in one couldn't be all too accommodating.

He wondered if any of the news of the cybermen or of the Slytheen had made it to America. Then again, perhaps they'd heard about the Christmas Star over London with it's arcs or electricity. "Did you anything strange happen to you around Christmas? People standing on rooftops?"

She had walked off to change clothes and when she came back, George looked like she was quite a bit more comfortable. "Well, last place I remember being is Chiswick, 2008." Well, that was a slight white lie. The last place he really remembered being was in the TARDIS, was he really supposed to say that, he supposed not.

"My story, we'll that's a bit of a long one, actually."

George looked at him with her head tilted to the left. "Um...No. Not that I remember." Then again, she'd been working on Christmas, but even then she didn't remember anything about people on rooftops, though George thought some might have been there. Hell, she'd been known to sit on rooftops.

"Chiswick? Where is that?" Though she judged from his accent it might be somewhere in Britain. "Oh, first person I meet who's also from 2008!" George smiled cheerfully again.

She snorted, nodding as she looked for some hairpins or something to hold back her bangs. "Same here, actually." She wouldn't ask if he didn't want to tell.

Give us a shove back to the left with the next reply, yeah?

Well, the Doctor supposed it made sense that George, too, had come from a paralel universe. Pity, really. He had sort of hoped that the universe had put in place a method and mode for dealing with people's souls- afterall, it implied that people had souls and he liked that idea immensely. Though, were the places souls went isolated by universe? If not, did that mean he would meet himself in millions of different incarnations one day? Millions of paralel universes, 13 regenerations, it made up for infinite possibilities. Would paralel him have the same regenerations he did? Oh, now his brain was really starting to work overtime.

"Hm?" He snapped out for her question about Chiswick, "Oh, it's just a smidge outside London.

The Doctor shrugged, looking outside he realized he might miss the party at the Carnival if he didn't get going soon.

"I hate to do this George, but I have a date with some old bumper cars at the carnival and I'd like to get there before all the exceptional ones are taken," his phrase punctuated with a playful smirk.
