Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: Jack & Ianto
WHAT: Thinking Ianto's (hopefully) asleep, Jack goes to see him.
WHERE: The gym
WHEN: 19:33
RATING: For once... the rating won't be high because of smut.
STATUS: In progress.

Outside of a few distractions, Jack had spent the majority of the day wandering the perimeter of the dome. Box. Whatever. Nothing had changed since the last time he was out here, though Jack could hear the tinkle of noise from the carnival in certain areas. He practically destroyed his right hand, trying to break through with brute force. He knew it was going to be pointless, but it didn't stop him from putting the full weight behind each punch.

Unfortunately, the wounds healed far too quickly for his liking.

Jack didn't think he had any right to see Ianto -- he knew he had apologised, even as he tied him down to the machine. But still, Jack didn't think he had any right to see him. As was always the case, those who were closest to Jack tended to wind up injured or dead. For over a hundred years, Jack had tried to believe he was different than the Doctor. But in the end, he wasn't. Jack should just be the Lonely Captain and get used to it.

Only problem was, that wasn't Jack. Jack didn't live the solitary life. Jack lived life surrounded by people, lover of the flesh and everything in between. Vas Captio, however, was changing Jack Harkness... and not for the better.

Snow was beginning to fall as Jack trudged back from the outer areas of Vas Captio and made his way to the gym. Hopefully by now Ianto would be sleeping and Jack could see him without feeling guiltier. He slipped silently into the gym -- not realising that was where the food was. Well, fuck.

Trying as best as he could to be completely inconspicuous, Jack managed to find his way to Ianto's cot. Sleeping. Thank god. Jack said nothing, merely settled on the floor next to Ianto and watched him sleep.

Ianto shook his head gently and pulled Jack's hand in a bit closer, to assure him that Jack wouldn't leave. It wouldn't surprise him one bit if Jack up and left and made himself scarce for a week or so. It was general Jack MO. The thing was, Ianto wasn't very certain he could deal with that. Things were frayed so thin here. One more thing like that and he was afraid he'd snap. "You fought against the control," he murmured. "You fought. I felt you fighting."

After a moment, Ianto looked up at Jack and shrugged carefully. "Look. You .. forgave me for the mess with .. with Lisa. And that was my fault. I can forgive you this. This isn't even your fault. It's what lovers do."

God, how well Ianto knew his Captain. Jack did want to run and brood for a while, coming back to Ianto when he felt like he had given enough penance. Of course, the one thing that Jack failed to realise was that Ianto might have needed Jack near him. Jack, however, was too hell-bent on thinking that Ianto would hate him. No one ever said Jack was fully logical in all things. Jack slid closer to Ianto, realising that he wasn't going to be able to run away from the other man.

"I forgave you because you looked good in a suit," Jack replied, though they both knew that wasn't the full reason. Jack looked down, staring into Ianto's crystal eyes and felt something break inside him. Someone who had such absolute and complete trust in him... just like Michael. Just like Greg.

Just like all of them.

"Suppose it is," Jack replied, though he didn't sound completely convinced either. Finally, though, Jack dropped his head and lightly kissed Ianto's forehead. "I still did it. Even if I wasn't in my right mind, I still hurt you. I'm so sorry, Ianto."

Ianto shrugged a bit, looking up at Jack through dazed and slightly loopy eyes. "It'll be alright," he reassurred Jack, even if he wasn't sure of that fact himself. Ianto let his hand wander, touching lightly at the mess of Jack's hair, his cheek, his shoulder. "That wasn't you. I know you. That wasn't you."

He shrugged again, slightly. "It's been alright. People have been turning up to visit, bringing me things off the table, stuffing me silly. Stay for a bit?"

"Yes, it will be all right," Jack replied, lying through his teeth. If there was anything Jack could do well... It was lie. But in this case, the lying would help. Jack closed his eyes for a moment turning his head to lightly kiss Ianto's palm. "How is it you have so much faith in me?" Jack asked softly. "How?"

Nodding, Jack shrugged out of the greatcoat and draped it over Ianto's lower body. "Something tells me you don't need me to get you any food, yeah?"

Here was the evidence Jack was still blaming himself: he missed the blatant sexual joke in reference to Ianto being 'stuffed'.
