Who: Elliot Reid and Andy Gallagher, mention of Nine
What: One hysterical pregnancy, coming up.
When: Day 28, morning
Where: The library
Rating: Definite R for excessive fricks
Status: Complete

Elliot's breath was coming quick as she stared down at the pieces of paper clutched in her hand.  This couldn't be happening.  This couldn't be happening.  Her eyes moved over the words on the page for the hundredth time as she tried to take them in.  She shook her head and moved towards the desk a few feet away where a pregnancy test with double lines stared up at her.  "Frick," she whispered as she stared down at it, moving her hand down to the front of her shirt and feeling the small, but unmistakable budge there.

Her mind was spinning as she struggled to accept the fact that somehow she was two months pregnant.  The lab test estimated her to be at eight weeks, which meant that there was a baby inside of her approximately the size of a kidney bean.  The thought of a kidney bean made her think of JD's three alarm chili and the burning sensation in her chest she'd had the one and only time she'd ever tried it.  Elliot clamped her mouth shut as her stomach lurched and she leaned against the desk.

"This can't be happening," Elliot whispered to herself as she shut her eyes and tried to stop thinking of chili, or what a mess she'd make if she actually let her stomach win, which only made it lurch again.

She was still thinking about the fact that she might be carrying JD's baby when Andy spoke again. Elliot stared at him as he called himself a fuck up and said he'd give up pot. Her face softened into a look of tenderness as she shook her head. "Andy..." She started, taking a deep breath. "Thank you," she said, biting her lip. "You're not a fuck up, but you are right, we don't know if it's yours. You don't have to do anything." She looked down. "I'm just freaking out. I just don't know how to deal with this. I don't know anything about being a mother except what I know from my own, which won't really come in handy unless I want to give the baby a crippling sense of self doubt, a distorted self image or hire a Manny."

Andy moved closer and took her face in his hands. She listened to him as he said he was someone. He was right. In this place he was her someone, even if she couldn't tell him that in those words. Sometimes she wanted more even though she had no right to ask for it, even though she knew if things ever fell apart there'd be no place to get away from it. She let out a small half laugh, half sob when he said that maybe they'd drop a sonogram machine in the gym for her. She could just imagine it literally dropping from the sky and crushing some innocent bystander, her waddling too and from the gym, giving birth in a locker room. She shuddered and closed her eyes, feeling her tears spill over. She felt sick to her stomach again, this time with worry. "Andy," she said softly, opening her eyes and looking at him when he called her gorgeous. "You're saying all the right things and I love you for it, but that doesn't change the fact that someday, I don't know if it's soon or months away, I'm supposed to push a baby out of my bajingo."
