Day 28 - Carnival Cage
Who: Chris and Merope. [Open to returning prisoners later on]
What: Experiments in altered realities.
Where: Carnival cage.
When: Day 28.
Rating: PG likely.
Status: Active.

Chris already had a screwed up concept of 'normal,' dealing with demons and other dark creatures on a regular basis, and then later on with his evil brother. This place? Was not helping.

He wasn't sure which was more stressful: being in the cage or knowing his powers were stripped to almost nothing. The whole day was taxing and sleep came as a sort of bittersweet relief. After all, what might they wake up to? What might be done to them as they slept? Even if they woke up to find themselves still in the cage, maybe there would at least be some food, or a couple bottles of water. Unless those in power were hoping to make them revert to cannibalism. Chris wasn't sure if his survival instincts could be pushed to such an extreme; the concept kind of went against most of what it was to be a whitelighter, and a witch as well.

When he opened his eyes and the bars of the cage slowly came into focus, he wasn't near as surprised as the day before. He noted that it was darker, but not as dark as it had been for the zombies. Chris simply sighed and laid there a moment, wondering if he should just try and go back to sleep since he didn't hear any sounds of pain or panic. But... no. Laziness wasn't really a trait of his. He slowly sat up, careful not to hit his head on the top of the cage since, being on the top bunk, it was only a few inches away when he sat up. An initial glance around the cage found it surprisingly empty, though his eyes caught on someone on one of the other bunks.

A blink, and then Chris was openly staring. It couldn't be. Not again. He rubbed his eyes but she was still there. Was he hallucinating again? One hand pressed to his forehead; no fever. "This so can't be possible..." Carefully hopping down from the bunk, he lingered there, not taking his eyes off the form he knew so well that seemed to be lying on the other bunk. The longer he stared the more his emotions were being stirred and he swallowed against the lump in his throat, a hand clutching on to one of the posts of the bunk almost as if to keep him from running over. "Piper?"

The amount of happiness that ensued here was well beyond what she was normally allowed to feel. Her chest wasn't tight, her body wasn't either as her fingers clutched around the fabric on his waist to keep him from leaving her. She had not even heard the sound of him calling her a different name.

When she released him slightly, her hands went to his face and she placed a kisses on his cheek a few times in a row. "Tommy?" She muttered gently.

The affection was a little much from her, and despite the feeling of elation currently making his heart race at the sight of his mother Chris couldn't help the minute way his body tensed, memories of the zombie attack still very fresh in his mind. But that was then, and Piper was right here, wasn't she? Alive and breathing.

While to anyone else the name would have sounded as it was, it registered to Chris' ears as his own, and a smile spread across his lips as his eyes dampened. "It's me." he repeated again, this time quieter. He hugged her to him briefly before loosening his arms, though he was hesitant to let go. Being able to touch her made her real, and if he let go for all he knew he could find she was merely a vivid hallucination or some sort of ghost image. "Are you okay? Have they done anything to you?" Again, the zombie image flashed in his mind but it was just as quickly discarded. And really, that should have been a hint that something was not quite right.

Merope had always been loving, gentle and overly affectionate when she could be. She kept her arms around him, absolutely refusing to let him go. Unlike Chris, it was very easy for Merope to have this delusional experience and not think anything was wrong or different about it. At this point, she didn't smile but she did seem to be much more relaxed and happy.

"...I-I'm alright...don't leave me." Merope said very tenderly, as if he might discard her. Whether it was a dream or not, Merope didn't know the difference and she didn't care to know.
