Maybe You're a Sinner Into Your Alternate Life [Finished Thread]
Who: Rorschach and Merope Gaunt
What: Epic experiment of epic proportions.
When: After the two wake up in their little cell which is slowly filling with water on Day 4
Where: A sealed cell with no windows, no doors, and water slowly leaking in... like all the other experiments today. :)
Rating: At least PG-13 for now due to the fact that Rorschach is not happy or secure about this whole thing. He's without his mask and he's with a WOMAN to make matters even more uncomfortable.
Status: Finished

To say that Rorschach was a paranoid man would have been a dire understatement. To say it to the sociopath's face would have been to risk life and limb. Since arriving the day before, Rorschach had been very careful about being seen by others, and careful that they did not see where he slept. To be known of was to be targeted, and he wasn't about to take chances. Especially since he did not sleep while wearing his mask. Justice never slept, he had decided long ago, and so neither would he while he wore his true face.

For the second time in two days, he woke up in a place he hadn't fallen asleep. Immediately, he shot up, instantly alert and taking shallow breaths, heart pounding. It was not like Rorschach to panic, but it was never a bad thing to be on-edge. With sharp focus and a calm eye for detail, he glanced around at the room. It was small, and cramped... there was nothing to grab onto or pull on, and no visible way out. He quickly stepped onto his wooden bench and stood on it because he'd noticed, rather quickly, that the floor was damp. He could hear the soft whispers of water somewhere nearby, indicating that there was a leak of some kind in this cell.

There was also a woman with long, dark hair, sleeping on a bench opposite the one Rorschach was now standing on. It was when he noticed her that his chest clenched harshly. He didn't have his face. It didn't matter when he was alone, but with someone else present, it was all the ugly red-haired man could think about for a few moments. The absence of his identity was one of the only things in the world he found frightening.

Perhaps part of the reason the two of them did get along so well was because of Rorschach's firm hand and Merope's meekness. He liked to control things, and clearly Merope was more comfortable being controlled.

It was a match made in... well... somewhere.

He watched as she scrambled timidly and clumsily out of the dungeon-like room, following with ease. His well-conditioned body didn't even break a sweat at the amount of effort he had to exert. In the sunlight, he glanced at Merope's milky-translucent skin. It looked odd, clashing with his well-muscled and amply freckled complexion.

Now that she was ridiculously tired from climbing, she set there on the edge and shifted more than normal. When he finally moved up beside her, she shifted a little closer to him. Granted, his slightly short stature and large muscles reminded her of her father kind of, but she didn't care. The man hadn't yelled at her or even snapped at her even, she was so appreciative for that.

Most men found women like her to be frustrating from lack of strength.

While he hadn't broke a sweat, Merope was terribly out of breath and in slight pain from her birth. "....T-Thank you for...everything....I-I won't keep you." She lowered her eyes to his hand and rested it lightly on his own with an affectionate stroke. "...W--What is your name..?"

Rorschach took a moment to stretch; over the last two days, he had been doing less physical activity than he was used to, and this small exertion on his part made him feel like running a mile. Usually he was far more active.

As for Merope's lack of strength... Rorschach expected women to be weak. Victims. The members of society that needed protection and only had power through the seduction of men.

"Am Rorschach," he said briskly. "You?"

Merope took a deep breath and leaned her arms to help her move her body,"I am Merope...I like your name. Rorschach." Easily, she moved her hands to the side and shifted herself around and winced lightly, looking around.

She raised her eyes to Rorschach and moved so close that her head could rest on his arm,"I'm so tired." She closed her eyes and attempted to use him for warmth of some kind.

Rorschach stared, puzzled, as Merope said that she liked his name. They had something in common, it seemed; he liked his name, too. That was why he had chosen it.

"Merope. Should sleep if tired," he said briskly, turning to leave. He had to get his mask again before the sun made him disappear and become Walter again.
