Entry tags:!dropped, day 23, location: barn, remy lebeau, selene

Who: Remy LeBeau & Selene [Open to anyone else who'd see the fire and come looking]
What: Selene follows the fire to the barn.
Where: About a hundred feet from the barn, on the road.
When: Day 23, 6:30pm
Rating: PG-13
Status: Dropped

The large fire blazing atop over the trees was bright and hot, there was no way any of them would be able to put it out. Sure, the Doctor could have stopped it while it was still small, with those buckets of water the Cajun had sitting not far.. but he hadn't. And sure, the Mutant could have not set the fire in the first place.. but he had. He had to watch it burn, for many reasons. So standing there on the side of the road, with his little red Radio Flyer wagon, rusted and dull with age, he stared through the thin trees at the barn he'd called home for two weeks, engulfed in flame. In his little red wagon were three buckets of water, three empty buckets, a washing board (clearly home-made) and a few bottles of water. He'd made himself quite the nice little home there, but it'd had to burn.

In retrospect, perhaps he should have saved a few more things.. like his journal. Like the rope inside. Like his extra clothes.. his pillows.. his sheets. Standing there, staring at the fire decimate everything he'd collected over his stay here, the Cajun crossed his arms, ran his tongue over his teeth, then clicked his tongue once.

"Huh." That had been a bad idea.

He nearly announced that he wasn't dead.. but then he realized that it was very apparent that he wasn't dead, and it could go without saying. She'd had a drink from him and he was (mostly) fine. And now the gears in his head were turning. Immortality. Maybe then the Doctor would stop being so worried about him dying. He could take a lot of strain off of things.. but he'd have to drink blood and that wasn't very appealing. The thought made him scrunch his nose a little. He'd keep it in the back of his mind, for later. Just in case.

"Wha's uh Lycan?" Questioned after a moment of silence. He only knew them as 'werewolves', sorry, Selene, but he'd understand once you pointed it out.

When he didn't point out that he was clearly not dead after being bitten Selene almost allowed herself a sigh of relief. She should know better than to think the subject could be over that easily, or that Gambit wouldn't bring it up again, perhaps when she was starting to feel starved and hopefully (for him) not thinking clearly.

Her brows furrowed a moment, as if it should have been obvious what she was talking about, when she remembered that wasn't the term most people knew. "Werewolf. Sorry, that's the term we use where I come from. Old habits, you know." The vampire shrugged a shoulder, hoping he would let the subject go. She even started walking again, in hopes that he would too. "And I really don't think we need any more vampires around here. It's hard enough to find a suitable meal as it is." Which was really only because she wasn't attacking people when it suited her.

"Werewolf. Like 'de boy here?" Oh, don't you think that Remy hadn't noticed, Selene. He believed in things like vampires and werewolves and aliens.. so after you'd become known as a vampire to him, he'd pinned the boy living here as a werewolf. Why not? They already had an alien and an immortal guy-- and a mutant. It was like a freak show in this little glass prison.

"Non, you righ'." They didn't need two vampires competing for food, they already had enough humans competing for food around here.

There was a brief pause in her steps though she tried to hide it, practically knew Gambit would notice it. "Yes." she conceded after a moment's hesitation, looking over at him. "What do you know of him?" She wasn't worried about Gambit telling others about what Remus was... oh, who was she kidding. Of course she was. Same as she worried about everyone who knew what she was informing the others. The vampire didn't trust anyone, not really, and she would do whatever it took to protect herself.

He certainly noticed the pause, and he was rolling his shoulders back, still tugging along that little red wagon. "Didn' know not'in' 'til you tol' me." He admitted with a growing smile. No, Selene, he hadn't know for sure.. but now he did. Thanks for that. And the poor vampire was getting a wink, before he looked forward again. "You seem uh lil' prote'ive. Or is 'dat jus' you bein' teri'orial." He'd seen Interview With A Vampire, he knew all about them. Brad Pitt was very convincing. Tom Cruise hadn't been bad either..

But really, Selene, he hadn't told anyone about you, save the Doctor.. and he'd had a reason for that. He wasn't going to tell anyone about the boy. Wasn't his place.
