Entry tags:!complete, day 04, jack harkness, laurie juspeczyk, location: forest, locke lamora, open

WHO: Jack Harkness, Laurie Juspecyk, Locke Lamora, and OTA
WHERE: The Woods
WHAT: The arrival of the three new victims residents.
WHEN: Day Four, Morning
RATING: TBA (Jack IS there after all)
STATUS: Active

Jack awoke -- well, wait, that was the first problem. Jack didn't sleep... ever. He groaned, rubbing the back of his head. So that meant he wasn't asleep but had been knocked out. Pinching the bridge of his nose, Jack tried to run through the past twelve hours. He'd been down in the vaults, observing Janet after she started that strange whistling once more. Watching her and then... nothing.

Finally, Jack raised his head and froze when he saw sky above him. There was no sewer chic but, instead, trees. All right, what the hell? Not rising to his feet, legs splayed out in front of himself like a child's toy, Jack sat on the forest floor taking stock of the situation. No longer in the Hub, check; one hell of a headache, check; no clue where he was, check and double check.

Instinctively Jack reached for the flap covering his wrist strap and his thumb brushed against the fabric of his shirt. Swallowing hard, Jack's eyes flicked down and he swore the moment he saw that his wrist strap was nowhere to be found. He quickly scrambled to his feet, hand going for his holster and again coming up empty.

All right, this wasn't funny anymore.

No Vortex Manipulator and no Webley -- apparently he'd have to do this on his own. Fantastic.

"Apparently I've become Rift flotsam and jetsam," Jack grumbled, shoving his hands into the pockets of his greatcoat. At least he had that. Frowning, Jack pulled a small box from within his pocket and stared at it. Flicking open the latch, he was even more surprised to find basic rations. God he hadn't seen these in years.

"All right. I'll bite," Jack said to no one in particular. "Where am I?"

As if he'd get a response.

Laure Juspczyk awoke to the sound of two male voices near by. Although she was unsure as to who the voices belonged to she assumed that at least one of them was Dan. Perhaps the other belonged to Jon? She moved her arm and tried to pat the side that he should have been sleeping next to, but her hand quickly feel onto hard ground. Confused, Laurie, slowly opened her eyes and tried to push herself up with her other arm. Great...it had fallen asleep. She shook her head and did her best to pull herself up. She was still incredibly stiff from the night before's confrontation with Adrian Veidt. Shit...Ozymandais. She leaned her head in her good hand when she finlly got herself into a sitting position.

It was then that she realized she was still wearing her Silk Spectre II costume. Suddenly she became worried. She shook her arm awake and stared down at her gloved hands. Well that certainly explained why she felt so cold. Her thigh high boots attached with gartars to her black and yellow body suit. She honestly could have sworn she had gotten rid of it already. But then she remembered falling asleep next to Dan, still in Antartica. Whoever took her at least had the descency to make sure she was wearing something, that's for sure. Although the gratefulness of being fully clothed didn't distract her from her sudden frustration that she was no longer on the ice continant but rather in a forest of some sorts. That meant that whoever the voices were they couldn't belong to Jon or Dan...

Frightened she pushed herself up to standing, bending over a bit as the pain from Ozymandias' kick to her stomach came shooting back at her. Damn him! she thought as she held her stomach until it calmed down, Damn him and his stupid catching bullets and shit! she forced the pain to the back of her head and stood up straight. Well straight enough that would allow three inch heeled boots threatening to sink in the mud. She slowly walked over to come from behind the tree that was blocking her and the two men. She leaned on it for support as she tried to get her strength back. "Who are you two...what have you done to me? What have you done to Dan?" she asked of the two standing before her.

It was strange how, when one was used to a weapon on one's belt, one automatically reached for it when confronted with a threat. Jack swore when his hand came up empty, shoving his hands into the pockets of his great coat and turning around, adopting a stance that clearly said 'don't screw with me'. Given the military coat and the set in his jaw, no one usually started anything when he looked like this.

Jack really wasn't in the mood.

"I've done nothing," Jack replied to the woman, looking her over twice. Could one blame him? God, with an outfit like that he wasn't sure if there was a man who'd refuse a look. Or woman for that matter.

Drawing his lips into a thin line, Jack looked around the forest then at the two companions he found himself with. "So, apparently none of us know how we got here, only that we're here," Jack said, assuming a great deal from the simple 'where are we?' question. "Don't know about either of you, but this place doesn't look familiar." And for a man who had hopped galaxies like he had, this was saying something. "Question remains, where are we and how the hell did we get here?"

And the final, unstated question: how the hell do we get home?

Locke had long ago come to the conclusion that there was nothing which could surprise him - though coming awake in a strange forest and running into a woman who seemed to be content to wander around in her smallclothes came rather close. For a long moment, he blinked at the strange woman but he had earned enough abuse from barely dressed women to know better than to take much time staring - instead, he chose to observe that the strange man made a quick play for an obviously missing weapon. This informed Locke's initial thought that the man took on the mantle of authority in much the same way as many of the guards who had ever tried to bust his head and it also nudged him toward the conclusion that Locke was likely not yet dealing with the magi likely responsible for his current predicament.

"This forest could be any in the land - though that really doesn't explain how I somehow managed to dock and walk all the way here without being aware of it," Locke answered. He was making an effort to keep a reign on his natural fallback of sarcasm but the leather on that particular lead was wearing quite thin. "Unless either of you have magical means that aren't obvious, we might stand here all day and chase vague possibility."

Since Laurie seemed to have joined the group rather late she was confused at what the two men were talking about. She stopped accusing them of things and tried her best to remain calm to be able to hear them out. Though remaining calm through a situation like this was not her strong suit.

When the man went for a nonexistent weapon Laurie tensed up and clenched her hands in fists in preperation. She was not about to let some guy attempt to take her down like this. Realiing the two were staring at her costume, Laurie eased up and rolled her eye. Clearly neither of them had seen a costumed hero dressed this way before. At least it made it obvious that they weren't from New York. Though she was well known across the country...perhaps they were foreign? The way they dressed seemed off to her. "Come on." she muttered to herself in annoyance. The design of her costume wasn't even completely her choice. Her mother had came up with the idea before Laurie could even say the word yes to her decided future career.

"This place can't be anywhere close to where I last was. Unless somehow Antartica mangaged to thaw over and grow a few plants in the last few hours." she said with heavy sarcasm to the man's questions. "I'm with him, this place could honestly be anywhere in the world." Laurie couldn't think of any ideas of where they could be. "Perhaps it'd be easier to start of with who we are? See if there is some sort of pattern?" she shrugged trying to find something that might explain why they were there and then possibly where they were. "I'll start," she sighed and leaned against the nearby tree, "I'm Laurie Juspeczyk, also known as Silk Spectre II. I'm a costumed hero so you two can stop gaping at me like that." she said with a bit of ice layered over her wannabe introduction.

All right. Jack drew in a deep breath, held it and released it, frowning further when he exhaled. He couldn't get a sense of this place, whateverit was, and he was starting to get frustrated. And he had no wrist strap to try and get readings on the forest. So many years he had relied on his tools and now he was feeling like a man starting over from the very beginning. In other words, Jack Harkness was not a happy camper in the slightest.

"No magical means," Jack replied stiffly, shoving his hands into his trouser pockets. "I used to be able to travel like that, but a friend of mine keeps disabling the ability. But that's not magical, it's mechanical... in a sense."

"So we have one of you in Antarctica, another on a boat, and I was in Cardiff. What I'd like to know is how anything could have gotten through security to get me here. It's like the three of us were plucked from obscurity and unceremoniously dropped in the middle of nowhere."

God, the team was going to think he abandoned them all once more, weren't they? Jack closed his eyes, drawing in a deep breath. Bloody fantastic. And so close after everything had happened too, when he swore he'd be coming back for them and wouldn't leave them alone.

Jack gave a bit of a fake salute, two fingers resting at his temple then flicked outwards. "Captain Jack Harkness." Turning ever so slightly, Jack winked at Laurie. "A costumed hero? Well miss 'costumed hero', wearing that much spandex is going to get yourself stared at whether you like it or not. And not just by present company either."

With each word spoken, Locke felt increasingly lost. Costumed hero he could at least wring a bit of information from, if just because he knew the two words separately - put together, he had to wonder if she was some manner of theater agent but that really didn't seem to fit with how she was acting or what she was saying. Antarctica and Cardiff, as place names, were just entirely nonsensical - there were no such places anywhere in Therin and he had studied maps enough to know the landscape fairly well. The mention of somehow using mechanical means to travel from one destination to another simply boggled his mind and threw him entirely off-center.

Fortunately enough, the madame's costume seemed to effectively distract the Captain which allowed Locke enough time to think. The two seemed to understand the Therin which he was currently speaking without any trouble but he was rather curious to see what would happen if he changed his language to Vadran - if confusion resulted, then he could guess that they were native to the same general area as he and, if they understood, then that painted a better picture of what he was dealing with.

"And I'm Leocanto Kosta." Though he had no reason to think that either of them would know Locke Lamora from a beggar on the street, he had become so used to the idea of pulling on personae that it seemed a natural act to give any name but his most common. Besides, if this really was a case of past antagonists making good on their threats, it was best to go in with the protection of a false identity. "Perhaps I'm missing something, but I don't necessarily see any link among us that would answer why we were all gathered to this place - maybe it would be best if we explore our surroundings to see if there are any clues to be found?"
