Day Four
Who: Dean Winchester & OTA
What: Day Four, beginning to realize...
When: Just after dawn
Where: Edge of the forest, nearest landmark: Carnival
Rating: R (always with the language)
Status: Complete

Dean had been walking for what felt like forever. His feet actually ached and his clothing was torn in various places from brambles, errant tree branches and who knew what else. He wasn't sure when he'd started walking but his eyes were slowly becoming accustomed to the light creeping across the treetops above him. It was still somewhat dark down there between the dense trees but he could see something ahead of him. A great, gleaming circle rising up into the air through the foliage.

Frowning, Dean ran a hand through his hair and a few dried and rustling leaves fluttered to the ground around him. He was all but trudging, dragging his feet at this point. It occurred to him with sudden clarity that he had no idea where he was or why he was there. He felt like he was trying to pull himself out of a long and sticky sleep that wanted to keep him buried in some fog of numbness. Something about that wasn't right and he knew it but his head was fuzzy. So damned fuzzy. He became aware of the fact that his stomach felt nauseated the further he slid forward on lazy feet. Perhaps whatever was up ahead had water somewhere inside. Or maybe there were people.

No. Not maybe. Somehow he knew there would be people somewhere. He didn't know how but that seemed stamped as a fact directly on his sluggish brain. He groaned as he stepped from the edge of the forest into a clearing filled with colorful booths and sunlight. The sun seemed to burn into his mind and he closed his eyes, rubbing them. "What the hell is going on?"

"Asshole," Shannon laughed, releasing her hold on him for the sole purpose of elbowing him in the side. After that, she wrapped her arm around his waist again. "Real cute," she added, wrinkling her nose and then looking back ahead of herself as they went on walking. She squinted her eyes against the sun as it started to rise higher in the sky.

They were nearly back to the museum and Shannon wondered if Sam and the Doctor would be in there. Sam or the Doctor. Maybe neither of them would be there and then what? Was she supposed to entertain maybe-Dean? Because that wasn't really her thing... Although, she supposed she could share and feed the poor guy.

Her thoughts were cut off when he stopped completely and she jolted to a stop, reflexively beside him. Shannon looked up at him and shrugged. "He hopes so..." she told him. "I don't know, he never really described his brother to me. He just was talking to the Doctor, I guess. All I know is the brother's name is Dean. You're built like him...and you have the same eyes, but I don't know. That could be coincidence for all I know," she told him a little apologetically. "I wish I could tell you more, Hulk, I really do," she said sincerely in spite of the use of the nickname for lack of a real name to put to his face.

Dean made a big to-do of almost falling over when she let go of him to eblow his side. "Hey! Ok, ok! You're gorgeous. Totally and completely to die for hot. Don't let me fall!" He laughed and slid his arm around her shoulder again as she returned her arm to his waist. This time though he didn't put as much weight on her because they were almost to the museum and he was feeling a lot better than when they'd started out. They were walking more like buddies at this point and he hoped she didn't notice or at least didn't care if she did.

He frowned when she told him that this Sam hoped he was his brother. They had the same eyes? Dean wracked his brain trying to remember something now that they were almost to where Sam was supposed to be. He didn't want to walk in with the pressure of being expected to be someone he didn't remember being if he could help it. He needed to remember more but all he could bring to mind was a horrible sensation of disappointment and betrayal. That couldn't be connected to a brother, could it?

"What else do you know about Sam?" he asked Shannon, beginning to walk again but very slowly, almost dragging his feet. "What else has he done to organize and try to escape the nasty fuckers running this place since all of it started?"
