Day Four
Who: Dean Winchester & OTA
What: Day Four, beginning to realize...
When: Just after dawn
Where: Edge of the forest, nearest landmark: Carnival
Rating: R (always with the language)
Status: Complete

Dean had been walking for what felt like forever. His feet actually ached and his clothing was torn in various places from brambles, errant tree branches and who knew what else. He wasn't sure when he'd started walking but his eyes were slowly becoming accustomed to the light creeping across the treetops above him. It was still somewhat dark down there between the dense trees but he could see something ahead of him. A great, gleaming circle rising up into the air through the foliage.

Frowning, Dean ran a hand through his hair and a few dried and rustling leaves fluttered to the ground around him. He was all but trudging, dragging his feet at this point. It occurred to him with sudden clarity that he had no idea where he was or why he was there. He felt like he was trying to pull himself out of a long and sticky sleep that wanted to keep him buried in some fog of numbness. Something about that wasn't right and he knew it but his head was fuzzy. So damned fuzzy. He became aware of the fact that his stomach felt nauseated the further he slid forward on lazy feet. Perhaps whatever was up ahead had water somewhere inside. Or maybe there were people.

No. Not maybe. Somehow he knew there would be people somewhere. He didn't know how but that seemed stamped as a fact directly on his sluggish brain. He groaned as he stepped from the edge of the forest into a clearing filled with colorful booths and sunlight. The sun seemed to burn into his mind and he closed his eyes, rubbing them. "What the hell is going on?"

What she was saying about Sam didn't sink in right away. She hadn't previously mentioned that he was supposedly Sam's brother. But it went over his head as he only half listened and tried to keep his mind on clearing the leftover fuzz from his thoughts so he could walk more confidently. She was a trooper to put up with half-carrying him this far and the museum wasn't that much further in front of them. He was grateful that she had insisted on helping him. He wasn't exactly sure why but he appreciated the company now that she was beginning to loosen up even more and get snarky. She was taking his mind off the fact that he was as helpless without his memories as he was.

"Totally hot? Oh I don't know about that." He looked at her for a long time, almost stopping mid-stride. He tilted his head and squinted one eye and then the other and then closed them. "Oh, ok, yeah now I see it," he chuckled before opening his eyes again. "And I didn't refuse to let you help me because I'm a guy. I refused to let you help me because I didn't want to hurt you. But now that I know you're Super Girl, it's all good."

He grinned at her and then turned his eyes back to the museum. The building loomed closer against the rising sun. The rays of sunlight filtered between the partial ruin of the roof and highlighted Shannon's blonde hair. She was very pretty, he had to admit. In fact, he probably wouldn't object to- Then it hit.

"Wait a minute. Sam from Stanford. The brainiac. I'm supposed to be his brother?" he asked her, this time coming to a complete stop in the middle of the deserted road. "That doesn't seem likely does it?"
