Day Four
Who: Dean Winchester & OTA
What: Day Four, beginning to realize...
When: Just after dawn
Where: Edge of the forest, nearest landmark: Carnival
Rating: R (always with the language)
Status: Complete

Dean had been walking for what felt like forever. His feet actually ached and his clothing was torn in various places from brambles, errant tree branches and who knew what else. He wasn't sure when he'd started walking but his eyes were slowly becoming accustomed to the light creeping across the treetops above him. It was still somewhat dark down there between the dense trees but he could see something ahead of him. A great, gleaming circle rising up into the air through the foliage.

Frowning, Dean ran a hand through his hair and a few dried and rustling leaves fluttered to the ground around him. He was all but trudging, dragging his feet at this point. It occurred to him with sudden clarity that he had no idea where he was or why he was there. He felt like he was trying to pull himself out of a long and sticky sleep that wanted to keep him buried in some fog of numbness. Something about that wasn't right and he knew it but his head was fuzzy. So damned fuzzy. He became aware of the fact that his stomach felt nauseated the further he slid forward on lazy feet. Perhaps whatever was up ahead had water somewhere inside. Or maybe there were people.

No. Not maybe. Somehow he knew there would be people somewhere. He didn't know how but that seemed stamped as a fact directly on his sluggish brain. He groaned as he stepped from the edge of the forest into a clearing filled with colorful booths and sunlight. The sun seemed to burn into his mind and he closed his eyes, rubbing them. "What the hell is going on?"

When maybe-Dean spoke again, Shannon looked back at him. "Whatever, it's no big deal," she replied with a shrug. And it wasn't; not really. Yeah, it bothered her that he was just one more person in a long line of people that thought she was just a girl and yeah she was sick of people thinking she was useless because she happened to be pretty - and Shannon was pretty sure that was why the felt that way - but it wasn't anything new or Earth-shattering.

"It's not for you," she replied in reference to the bar. "I think judging by the way you're wobbling, if I needed to, I could take you," she added, "in spite of your Hulk size," she finished as sarcastically as he had called her Super Girl, complete with a smug grin. "It's just in case. A lot of scary shit has been going down the past couple of days."

She paused and shook her head. "Yeah, well, if you want Sam or the Doctor, then you might as well just come with me, seeing as how they live with me and all," she reminded him. Well, sort of reminded him. She'd mentioned that Sam lived with her, but she hadn't said about the Doctor. Mainly because he hadn't actually moved in yet, he'd just agreed to. Shannon didn't find it prudent to explain to Dean, especially since the whole reason she'd asked the Doctor to come was because she was still not sure how she felt about Sam. Which, if Sam was Dean's brother and he ever came around to realize it, would probably be offensive.

Still, when he groaned and closed his eyes, Shannon looked back at him sympathetically. She'd have offered her arm or something, but she doubted he'd effing take it, since he was apparently Mr. Macho or whatever. "You okay?" she ventured, though.

Quietly, with only a slight hint of his former wit, he said, "You really are Super Girl. You're going to be my protector? I like that." Sort of. He wasn't sure what to think about the fact that he was, as she'd said, too wobbly to be much of a match for anything or anyone. "Well, lead the way then."

He was about to step further away from the booth to follow her but the wave of dizziness struck and it was like the straw that broke the camel's back after everything. He looked up at the trees when she asked if he was okay and it all spilled out and upward into the sky.

"Me? I'm fine. Just dizzy as fuck because some unknown person or people grabbed my ass while I was sleeping, threw me in a glass cage and then did god knows what to me while tattooing my arm like a bunch of assholes." His legs began to wobble again as he felt his anger begin to rise at the fact that he'd been rendered so helpless when he knew that couldn't be the person he'd been before this all.

"Oh yeah and Super Girl is PMSing so I get treated to the Sulky Girl instead. It occurred to him that he'd remembered something new, that he'd been sleeping when they'd nabbed him, but it was somewhat inconsequential now that he was about to fall over again. Fuck that. He was not falling over. He grabbed onto the edge of the booth and kicked it hard with his boot.

"Shit!" he gasped, dancing on one foot and glaring at the booth. "This is not supposed to happen to me. I'm supposed to be on top of my fucking game, dammit! Dad didn't train me to -" He stopped, looking confused. He was completely out of control and what was he even talking about?
