Day Twenty Two, Noon
Who: Zombie!Piper and OTA
What: Lunch, hopefully
Where: The Gym
When: Noon
Rating: PG-13
Status: Active

Piper Halliwell slowly emerged from the woods that encircled the little village of Vas, a low groan escaping her mouth as she spotted what used to be familiar buildings. The former witch was barely recognizable after her prolonged stay underground. Her skin was waxy and mottled with dirt and decay. Patches of her hair were missing and the parts that were still with her hung encrusted with dirt to her shoulders. Only her eyes, nose and mouth vaguely retained their shape under the grime and decomposition and even then they weren't the same. Her eyes lacked their usual intelligent spark, the left side of her nose was smashed in and her lips were cracked and parted as she moaned unintelligibly.

It was a good thing Piper had always been more practically driven than vain considering her current quest. Brains, that was what was on her mind, if not in it.

And it was brains that she was seeking as she moved jerkily forward in the darkness toward the square of the gym.

That sound had a pit of dread settling in Chris' stomach and he swallowed, only taking a step or two more as he eyed the figure. Something about the way they were moving just wasn't right to him. Especially after having seen a zombie in action the day before.

But... there was something else. Like a vague feeling of familiarity nagging at the back of his brain.

And that feeling had Chris taking a few more steps even as the figure drew closer. The smell of decomposition hit him, worse than the day before, and he covered his mouth as he turned his head to the side briefly and tried to push aside the urge to gag. Had to be a zombie, nothing else smelled like that. He started to put his hand out to use his magic as he turned his head back, eyes resting on the human figure, but the stiffly moving figure was close enough now that he could make out some details in the darkness and it made him pause. Definitely was female, from what hair he could see, and the general face shape seemed familiar. It almost reminded him of --

"No..." His whole body froze and Chris just stared at the figure, a cold chill running down his spine. No, it couldn't be. There was no way. The shadows were playing tricks on him and the figure was of a woman that merely resembled Piper. But he couldn't move, letting the zombie come closer as if he needed some sort of visual confirmation before his mind would decide on something to do.

Dark and empty eyes looked up at Chris as shuffling steps neared him. Piper didn't recognize the figure of her younger son, wouldn't have even known he was to exist considering the timeline that she'd come from when she was alive. All he was to her was flesh. Warm flesh encasing the brains she needed to survive.

She moaned again as his smell filled the nostril that hadn't collapsed under. He smelled so good. Her mouth curved up into a wavering and unsteady smile, a ghost of the one that used to be reserved for her family. A breeze blew her matted hair out of her face as she reached out with soft and rotting flesh and grasped her son's arm.

This couldn't be happening. It was just some bizarre nightmare and any minute he was going to wake up and he wouldn't even remember this.

But the zombie came closer and Chris caught that smile -- which just felt wrong but nonetheless was as familiar to him as Piper's voice -- and he suddenly wanted to cry. "Piper?" He swallowed hard against the lump in his throat, voice cracking. After the day before his rational mind knew not to expect any sort of recognition, not that there would have been a guarantee of it otherwise since time was screwed up in this place, but it was still natural to try.

It was the alien touch that startled him enough to move, stumbling back a few steps and just barely pulling his arm out of her grasp. "Mom?" His voice was quiet, hurt, and even though he knew he should move he just couldn't. His instincts were at war with each other and Chris was left feeling lost, staring at what had once been his mother with wide eyes. It was good that no other zombies were around or he would have been dead already. Although it wasn't exactly looking good for him at the moment.

She let out a pained cry as he moved away from her. She was so hungry, it was stronger than any emotion, it was need and it pushed her stiff limbs to move much faster than before as she closed the distance that he'd put between them. She wasn't going to let him get away from her.

Her hands grabbed at his clothes, their grip much firmer this time as she pulled him towards her. She grunted as she struggled to hold onto him and then her mouth opened wide as if to speak, eyes lighting up momentarily before her head moved forward towards the exposed flesh at his neck.

As a zombie Piper wasn't that great at anatomy, but she was close to the brain. She'd find it soon.

That noise froze him. It shouldn't have but it did and then she was practically on top of him. Emotion aside, the smell made his eyes water and Chris coughed as he gagged. He tried to push at her, straining against the surprisingly strong grip, but his hands felt dirt and grime and things he wasn't sure he wanted to put a name to. The thought to orb wasn't even in his head. His mind was too much of a mess to think of anything clearly at the moment.

He tried to back pedal, digging his heels into the ground as he forced himself to push against what once was Piper hard, but he only succeeded in tripping over his feet and losing his balance. Standing, he at least had a chance at keeping that open mouth away from too vital of a spot since he had more than a few inches on her. But losing his balance sent him to the ground, elbows and ass hitting hard as he tried to somehow catch himself, which was only made more difficult by the literal dead weight that came down with him. "Oh god..." Chris practically whimpered, feeling like he was drowning in the smell of decay and the unnatural feel of the zombie's deteriorating body on top of him.

He pushed against her and she only held on tighter, the long unused sinew of her arms tightening to the breaking point. Then he fell backwards and even if she wanted to let go, which she didn't, Piper wouldn't have been able to move fast enough in her current state not to go down with him.

One leg folded unnaturally under her as she fell forward and when the world stopped moving she let go of his shirt and pulled herself forward. Fingers that were too soft and too caked in dirt stroked his face as she struggled to turn her head so that the hair in her face afforded viability. A moan of a question and then her eyes fell on a bit of exposed flesh. This time with no obstacle of height to overcome Piper sunk her teeth into the soft skin on the left side of his neck.

Warm blood trickled into Piper's mouth, but it was just an appetizer. It wasn't the main dish she was looking for. She gave a frustrated grunt and started pulled back to reconsider her attack plan.

The smell, the feel... it was sensory overload in the worst way. The mere weight on his chest made it hard to breathe, smell aside, and when he gave a half-hearted attempt at a push his fingers seemed to sink in and his whole body shuddered. Something soft touched his face and he instinctively jerked his head back, unintentionally exposing his neck more. His mind was torn between 'mom' and 'monster' but that all fell away as he felt intense pain at his neck.

The cry ripped from his mouth was as much pain as it was anguish and the thought flashed through his mind that he was about to die. Again. Well, that seemed to finally kick some of his instincts into gear.

Chris orbed without a conscious thought, something that tended to only happen in situations of extreme duress, his instincts sending him to the last place he considered safe: the gym. Whether he would remain there long, or whether the smell of his spilled blood would prove to make him easy to track, would have to be seen.
