Who: Remy LeBeau & Selene
What: Breakfast, fire, and killer birds?
Where: The Church
When: Day 20, 8:30am
Rating: PG-13
Status: Complete

Remy LeBeau was often in a miserable state. Not only outside of this place (where he'd slept in strange women's beds, and wondered where his next meal would come from), but also within these glass walls (where he was experimented on, and tortured by one man in particular). He had been soggy all day the day before yesterday and now had a cold (that explained his sneezing and slight fever), he had been thrashed verbally by the Doctor (thanks for that, Time Lord, you prick), and now he'd been pecked within an inch of his life by demonic birds from Hell (they had ruined his coat!). On top of all of that, he had gone to find Jenny and had realized with great displeasure that she wasn't in the barn where he'd told her to go. So he'd quickly disappeared down into the tunnels below, to escape the birds who'd followed him into his barn, and he'd lit up his tattered coat and hurried along through the tunnels. He'd popped up in the theater accidentally before ducking back in and continuing on. Second try was a charm, though, and he was nudging up the trap door, shoving and pushing against it, because of the heavy trunk that the Doctor had set on it days earlier.

It must have looked quite a sight to Selene, who wasn't aware of the tunnel's existence. One moment, the trunk was sitting there, unmoving.. and the next, it was jumping around some, being rocked, as if something was pushing up from under it. It had taken a few long seconds, but the trunk was finally rocked off, sliding from its spot on the trap door, and off to the side as the door swung open and clattered onto the floor, swinging there on its hinges. Then two gloved hands grasped onto the edge and the red-head was hauling himself up, off of the ladder that led upwards, and pushing up so his arms extended fully and he could get a knee between them and onto the wooden floor. Only then was he standing and dusting himself off.

Poor Selene. She was hungry, and there stood the mutant, bloody and grinning like a mad man. He had a clotted cut on his cheek, one over his eyebrow, one on his lip, various peck marks, and a few bloody gashes on his exposed fingers (pinky and pointer on each hand). One of them was still bleeding quite heavily. And the slices in his clothing? On his sleeves, his shirt beneath the trench coat, his pants, and the trench coat itself? They were all a little bloody, because his skin beneath had been sliced as well. Several of those were bleeding now, too, thanks to his movement in the tunnels. It was like a buffet, vampire. Control yourself.

"Someone call f' uh fire?" He asked cheekily, lifting red on black eyes to lock onto one of the birds waiting in the rafters, cawing down at them.

The vampire, on the other hand, didn't pay the bird any mind. It wasn't like it could truly harm her, and if she wanted she could keep it from harming him as well. Supernatural speed and all. He'd allowed her to recharge, she couldn't very well let him get hurt now. Well, anymore than he already was.

"I think if one of us needs to be safe, it's you. I can heal." There was a small twitch of her lips in the faintest of smirks. "You'd be amazed what I can heal." A vampire surviving a stab clear through the heart? It was unheard of. Hell, she was still amazed by it, although she was pretty sure Marcus had been a touch more surprised than she. Her lips brushed Gambit's skin again, loathe to move away, but she did. Not far, as she was unsure just how steady he would be. She turned rather than pulling herself from his partial embrace, blue eyes narrowing at the bird when it made noise again, and she reached over to smack it with the back of her hand, easily sending it away from them. Whether it was dead or not from the force she didn't really care. Birds were bothersome anyway.

"Are you sure you don't need to rest a little?" she asked as she looked back at him, bringing her hand up to lick his blood from her palm.

"M'safe, kin'a tire' feelin'.. bu' safe." He smiled more and let his eyes close again when her lips brushed over his skin. But then she was turning away and those red eyes reopened and a bright grin found his face. "Oui," He assured her in that same easy tone, as his hands released her and he took a step back. "Don' nee' t' res'. I'm feelin' jus' fine," However, as he took another step away, turning as he did, his knee gave out on him and he collapsed down with the sudden rush of blood from his head. It ended the mutant up on his knees and he bent forward at the waist to try and force blood into his head. Oh, he felt a little sick.

But his sudden movement had caught the attention of many a bird, flying up to that window and peeking in. They needed to get into that tunnel before the lot of crows continued growing and flew in for an attack. But for right now, at least, they were untouched. It wouldn't last long.

Selene bent swiftly at the sound of movement and ended crouched down next to him, a hand at his shoulder to keep him from falling forward. "No, you don't need rest at all." she chided, but it wasn't as light as she would have cared for it to be. Perhaps she had misjudged just how much blood he had lost from his injuries from the birds before he came to see her. And speaking of the birds, her head was whipping up to eye the window, bright eyes narrowing. After today, she was pretty sure she would hate birds.

"Come on, up we go." She slipped her arm under his and wrapped it around him, lifting him to his feet easily. Nor was getting them over to the trap door a problem, though his weakness did worry her a little, but she was sure with a little rest he would be fine. The body just needed a chance to make more blood, that was all. A glance at the ladder and Selene was frowning, highly doubting that Gambit was in any shape to climb. Was everything going to be difficult today? "No comments about your wounded manly pride or you'll never have a chance to steal my coat. At least I'm not throwing you over my shoulder." The words were barely spoken before she pulled his body close to hers and dropped them both down into the darkness. She was careful to hit the ground first, ignoring the flicker of pain that went through her legs, and she steadied him, eyes searching his face. "Stay here, can you handle that?" The vampire was pretty sure he wasn't going anywhere, at least nowhere fast, at the moment but she felt compelled to speak anyway.

When she crouched next to him, he flashed her a silly little grin and rolled his shoulders back. Only Gambit could fall gracefully, and he had-- strange man. Inhuman, for sure. But then she was sliding that arm around him and he was about to protest when she suddenly lifted him up to his feet much easier than she should have been able to, and his eyebrows lifted high.

The smile instantly returned to his face. "Man, you ho', Selene. Remin' me t' le' you smack me aroun' some one day." It was a quip, a joke and a compliment all rolled into one, and when she told him not to complain about his wounded pride, he just laughed a little. He let out a short startled noise when she suddenly lept down into the tunnel, though, but ended up laughing again when they landed safely. "My hero." He remarked with another grin, tired eyes locked onto her in the dark. "M' fine, really. Ain' no nee' t' worry. Jus' kin'a ligh'hea'ed. Gonna go 'way real soon, promise."

When she released him, he swung his arms out to demonstrate that he could stand all on his own. "Oui, can stay here. Ra'ter no' 'dough. Where you wanna go, chere? Know 'dese tunn'ls well 'nuff, can help y' ge' somewhere, if you wanna." He knew them well enough, like he said, but not like the back of his hand. He could still get lost, easily. Man, he didn't feel that great.. but he was able to push the feeling aside, because a bird was dive-bombing into the tunnel with them and slamming into the side of his head, causing him to shout and swat at it, moving quickly to put his back against the wall as he lifted his hand to his head. That hurt!

She was happy to listen to his comments, if partly because it meant he was still conscious. Though it bothered her that he mentioned being lightheaded, as she hadn't though she'd taken that much. He really needed to have a doctor look him over and patch him up before he lost anymore blood from his wounds.

Selene opened her mouth to reply when the bird appeared and she reached out to smack it away hard when it tried to attack them again, and their was the brief crunch of bones breaking when it hit the wall. "Because we don't need the birds down here, for one." She gave him a stern glance, as if he might argue with her, and then she was up the ladder with as much ease and grace as Gambit could manage on a good day... only to have to duck a few birds. With a bit of a snarl she shut the trap door with a clang, not wanting any more to get down there while she grabbed a few things. While the vampire would be able to see relatively fine in the dark, she wasn't so sure about Gambit and a little light never hurt besides. Dodging birds, as she didn't want to take the time to fight them, she ripped off two legs from the nearest pew since she didn't want to take the time to go down in the basement. Her eyes scanned the pews, remembering Andy's words, and after a few moments she noticed the small pile of clothes laying one one of the pews. Snatching them up, she moved swiftly back to the trap door and opened it for the second it took her to slip under, and then she was pulling it shut with a loud noise as she let herself drop down.

She landed in a crouch and immediately looked for Gambit, eyes seeming brighter in the darkness. "Figured a little fire to light the way couldn't hurt either."

The darkness was absolute. There was no light in the tunnel at all, no windows, no cracks. When the door slammed shut behind the vampire, they were left in complete darkness and Gambit's eyes reflexively widened to try and bring in more light, pupils dilating out to urge the remaining light in. But it was no use.

"Oui, fire's good, non? C'n you see, chere?" He asked as one hand reached out for her, finding first her arm, then sliding up to her shoulder, and back down her arm to her hand. "Sorry." The single word was cheeky. He'd partially felt her up, and his excuse would be the darkness around them. He couldn't see her, had to feel her! But as his hand came down further, he felt the pew leg in her hand and he deftly took it from her, eyebrows lifting. "'Dis stay 'tween you an' me." He reminded, before he curled his hand tighter around it and the leg started to slowly glow pink, just around where his bare fingers were touching the piece of wood, and the pink spread out until it encompassed the entire piece of wood, then it slowly turned into a brighter red, and the red of Gambit's eyes? Started to glow faintly in the dark. Red to counter her blue.

And the mutant smiled broadly. The clothed wrapped around the leg had not begun to glow, they remained dark and obscuring the light, so he was tugging them off with his free hand and they began to slowly glow as well. His eyes got brighter. "Migh' wanna step back." He advised her, charging up those clothes just so, and when he tossed them aside, he took a few steps in closer to her and turned his face away from where he'd thrown them. Seconds later, they exploded into a shower of burning chunks of fabric. Then the red-head flashed a smile at Selene and glanced back. "Fire." He said simply. Cocky bastard.

But he seemed okay, right? He was standing, talking, a little excited over what was going on. He cleared his throat once and rubbed at his chest with his free hand, but nothing more. Maybe he was a little pale.. but that was to be expected.

"Well enough." Being as there was absolutely no light she could only make out the shape of him, perhaps a few slight details when he was near. But even if she had been as blind as him, between scent and hearing she would have easily known exactly where he was at all times. His touch was reassuring, in that he could still move, and his comment made her smirk briefly. It wasn't as if he was feeling her up in other places.

She nodded, then remembered after that he couldn't see her, and she might have said something but then her gaze was on his hand and the wood. Her eyes widened, watching what he was doing attentively. That... was a neat trick. "How..." Her amazed voice trailed off as she caught sight of his eyes, finding it eerie for only a split second, before she reminded herself his eyes were red normally. The glow was really only natural. Selene stepped back when he said to, still watching him, and she started when the fabric exploded, cursing under her breath.

"That's amazing." she finally said, looking over at him with a rather childlike smile. When was the last time the vampire had seen something new, truly new? His trick was almost as wonderous as when she realized she could once again see the sun.

Her expression faded some when he seemed not quite alright, and she put a hand on his shoulder. "I think we should get you to somewhere you can lay down and take it easy for awhile."
