Who: Sam Winchester and Andy Gallagher
What: Sam tells Andy what really happened at Cold Oak
Where: The Church
When: Day 18, mid-afternoon
Rating: TBA
Status: Complete

The meeting with the management had not gone well. Sam had no more answers than he had upon waking up that morning. He still hadn't heard from Shannon or heard from anyone who had seen her since the return of the others and he was beginning to worry. He thought he knew her well enough to know that she would've at least dropped him a line to tell him she was alright, even if she didn't necessarily want to come back to the museum. She knew he worried and if she'd had access to her journal at all, she would've known that they'd though she was dead. Her not speaking up said something that Sam didn't really want to think about just yet.

He tried to push those thoughts back as he approached the church and the familiar blue van parked beside it. Even though the majority of those who had been believed to have died were back he had not changed his new attitude towards the "management" as they'd taken to calling themselves. He was going to stop lying and making promises he couldn't keep and he was finding a way out for all of them. There was no question about that. Andy needed to know the truth about what had happened in Cold Oak. He needed to know that he would have to protect himself against Ava in case actually breaking the glass wall or finding a way out of it resulted in each of them going back to their own times.

It was a conversation that he wasn't looking forward to, one that he'd very carefully managed to side step until now, but he felt like it was the right thing to do. He stopped a few feet away from the van and took a deep breath before reaching out and knocking on the back door.

Even though Andy had asked how it had happened, he hadn't actually expected Sam to answer him as honestly and bluntly as he had. Andy asked because if Sam felt it was important for Andy to be prepared for it to happen, Andy thought it was important to know how so that he'd be all that much more prepared. His jaw set and he stared straight ahead when Sam said that it had been a demon and it had torn him apart. Demon. Andy was still trying to process that whole thing. He wondered if he would ever really be able to let it sink in.

Sam started to apologize and Andy shook his head, without looking back at his friend. He didn't need Sam's apology and he didn't want it. It would've been different, for example, if Sam had said it had somehow been his fault, but just going off to look for the girl when he'd thought she was missing and not happening to be there when the bitch showed up to kill Andy wasn't Andy's idea of fault. It didn't matter, really. But Sam's apology didn't need to be said and Andy wasn't going to think of it again after this conversation.

As his friend went on to say that they were their to wipe each other out, mentioning that Jake killed Ava to save Sam, Andy's immediate thought came out as a response. "Which means you killed Jake, if you're still standing," he said in a low voice. He paused and looked back at Sam, raising his eyebrows slightly. "Right?" The tone in his voice was not accusatory or judgemental, but rather numb and emotionally void. Really, Andy just wanted to know. And that question begged another. "So, if I live through Ava, you or Jake will have to kill me anyway. I can't win no matter what happens, can I?"

Andy shook his head when Sam had apologized and Sam could only take that to mean that it didn't really matter. It didn't, considering Andy had ended up dead even if Sam hadn't meant for it to happen.

Sam felt his stomach sink at Andy's statement that he killed Jake. He had killed Jake though not for the reasons or in the way that Andy thought he had. "Not exactly," Sam said, his voice sounding gruff. He cleared his throat and looked over at Andy. He hadn't really told anyone what had happened to him at Cold Oak and while he wanted Andy to be prepared and to know just how dangerous Jake was he was hesitant to tell the truth about his own death and the deal that brought him back. The truth was he didn't want to talk about that, or what Dean had done to bring him back, or how unfair it was that he got a second chance and Andy didn't. How many times had he head his dad and Dean say it. What was dead should stay dead.

There was a long moment of silence before Sam spoke again. "I wouldn't kill you, Andy," he said quietly. "But Jake's dangerous too. If you end up back there you just have to hold out for a little bit longer. Dean and Bobby show up with a way out."
