Who: Sam Winchester and Andy Gallagher
What: Sam tells Andy what really happened at Cold Oak
Where: The Church
When: Day 18, mid-afternoon
Rating: TBA
Status: Complete

The meeting with the management had not gone well. Sam had no more answers than he had upon waking up that morning. He still hadn't heard from Shannon or heard from anyone who had seen her since the return of the others and he was beginning to worry. He thought he knew her well enough to know that she would've at least dropped him a line to tell him she was alright, even if she didn't necessarily want to come back to the museum. She knew he worried and if she'd had access to her journal at all, she would've known that they'd though she was dead. Her not speaking up said something that Sam didn't really want to think about just yet.

He tried to push those thoughts back as he approached the church and the familiar blue van parked beside it. Even though the majority of those who had been believed to have died were back he had not changed his new attitude towards the "management" as they'd taken to calling themselves. He was going to stop lying and making promises he couldn't keep and he was finding a way out for all of them. There was no question about that. Andy needed to know the truth about what had happened in Cold Oak. He needed to know that he would have to protect himself against Ava in case actually breaking the glass wall or finding a way out of it resulted in each of them going back to their own times.

It was a conversation that he wasn't looking forward to, one that he'd very carefully managed to side step until now, but he felt like it was the right thing to do. He stopped a few feet away from the van and took a deep breath before reaching out and knocking on the back door.

There was a silence between the two of them before Sam finally spoke. Andy's name came out of the other man's mouth at the same time as Andy took another hit of the bong and held the breath. He looked over at Sam through bleary eyes until Sam looked out the window again, swallowing. Something happened to Andy in Sam's time and, from the sounds of it, something bad. Andy let out the breath and coughed just once. His head was swimming a little, but not as much as it should've been by the time Sam finished his explanation.

For a moment, Andy just sat there. He had looked over at Sam only to see that his friend was staring down at his hands and so Andy looked out the front window with his brow furrowed. Andy hadn't ever made it out of Cold Oak at all. He'd died there. That was, Andy realized, why Sam had always spoken in such general and vague terms when Andy brought up the two of them getting out of there. Because Sam hadn't wanted to tell Andy that he'd died in that piece of shit little town at the hands of a fucking woman. A short, bitchy one who wasn't even attractive.

"How?" he asked finally in a cracked voice as he coughed again against the burn in his throat from the pot. Then, he cleared his throat and asked again, in case Sam hadn't caught it the first time because of the sound of his voice. "How's she do it?"

In fact, Andy had a lot of questions. He took another hit and then looked over at Sam again. "Then what?" he asked in a choked voice as he fought to speak and keep the pot smoke in his lungs at the same time. What happened to her after she'd killed him? What happened to Jake? Was Sam the only one who had gotten out? Had he and Jake buried Andy the way that Andy and Sam had buried the Asian guy or had they just left him there to rot? Part of him didn't even want to know, but the other half felt like he had the right to and should.

Sam didn't really know how Andy would take the news of his impending death. He'd tried to imagine what it would be like, to have someone tell you that you were going to die and he couldn't quite wrap his mind around it. If anyone had told him before Cold Oak that he would die there he would've freaked out. Now...well now he almost thought maybe it would be a relief. If he could guarantee that Dean wouldn't be bringing him back or making any deals. He didn't think that was normal though and the fact that Andy wanted more information surprised him for a moment.

He looked up at Andy, pressing his lips together for a long moment before he spoke again. "She summoned a demon," he said slowly. "When I got back you were dead and the salt line was broken." In his mind's eye he could see Andy's shredded body on the ground, his blood soaking the corner of his mouth and the front of his shirt. "It tore you apart."

Sam swallowed and lowered his head. "Andy, I'm sorry," he said, his voice momentarily having the emotion he'd managed to keep out of it until now. "I trusted her. I should've..." He trailed off when Andy asked then what. He looked back up at him, his expression pained. "Jake kills her before she can try to kill me," Sam said slowly. "We were supposed to wipe each other out. That was the point of Cold Oak. It was a psychic kid version of survivor."
