Home had these Serpent Gate things that flung you to diverse places in an instant. Not too dissimilar than what's here in terms of getting around. Unfortunately a lot of my job involved going to far-off horrible locations looking for magical artifacts, so crappy winters and frozen unpleasantness abounded.
