So hangovers are exactly as fun as I remember them being. Send your best cure suggestions to Regretful Apostate c/o Terrible Life Choices.

I remember these.

Drink water, take a shower, eat a good breakfast. That usually tends to be a winning combo.

See, that all sounds sensible but also eating feels like the second worst idea possible, right after moving.

But you need to. Do both, that is.

Do I need to come make you some eggs, at least?

Yes, I know.

Need to, no. I'm a full-grown abomination, I can sort something vaguely approaching breakfast. But if you're still free at the point I start feeling semi-human again we do still need to get that coffee.

Good. Eggs, toast, a banana. You'll thank me later.

I should be free. I'm going to sleep once I get back, but coffee will be ideal at that point.

As I know little of it, what Dan said is probably accurate but if necessary I could help a little.

Maker no, don't trouble yourself on my account. Entirely self inflicted, deserves zero pity.

It's hardly any trouble and that hardly changes a thing. But I shan't push.

My councilors generally sit me down whenever I start feeling poorly and ensure I get my rest, but yes generally I do not like it. And you are most welcome.

Shot of pickle juice. Or just the damn jar.

That sounds utterly vile so sods law says it's got to be incredibly effective.

Supposedly there's science with the electrolytes, but I think the shock of the taste will wake you up enough.

Electrolytes. Yes. Obviously I know what those are. Maker be praised, looks like Honesty has buggered off. A day later than anyone wanted, but it's progress at least

It's just a fancy word for minerals - like salt. That's why the pickle juice helps, it's salty.

Though drink a lot of water with it if you go that route.

Oh yeah. Make your body so undesirable, germs/ailments will not invade.

Cold remedies are a whole other thing too, Anders. Get ready for the insane suggestions if you ever catch one.

Pretty sure I'm getting a free pass on anything short of a True Blight for the time being, at least, but I'll bear that in mind when if things change. Just no more raw eggs, cheers.

I'm going to look like a bloody egg by the end of this experiment. A salty, vinegary raw egg. I think the tomato guy was onto something with this whole "make it terrible enough you think twice about getting drunk again" theory.

That sounds ornery. Sorry. I genuinely appreciate all the help.

Together? Or one chasing the other? Neither sounds like a particularly good time. Why are all hangover cures terrible?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]riggsanity

Together. What you want to do is pour in the whole can of tomato juice and then just a bit of the beer. It's not a miracle worker but it takes the edge off enough to function. I don't know. Figured it might be some kind of attempt at getting us to drink less if the cures all taste like crap?

I've been in that position often enough to think about it once the hangover eased off enough for my brain to work right again.

A shot of vinegar usually does the trick, I’ve heard. Some add a raw egg.

[info]libertassumptus

If I didn't know better, I'd say people are just making things up at this point. Trying to find the most awful thing they can convince a poor hungover mage to try drinking.

At least we know "all hangover cures are terrible" is a constant between worlds. That's oddly comforting.

If I'd wanted to try and convince you to take the most awful, I would have gone with rabbit poo tea, but I'm not that cruel.

I've never had a chance to test any of them, regardless, but my brother usually just stumbles about whinging, until his head clears. Vinegar was popular in my time, though.

Countersuggestion: don't get sober. The being drunk bit was fine. I think. I have some very confusing notes that mostly consist of failing to spell Fenris, succeeding in spelling 'is a jerk', and I think planning a one-man expedition to the Deep Roads that I owe someone a vast sum of gratitude for not letting me follow through on.

Take it from me, sooner or later you slack on your effort to remain drunk and become hungover all over again. I know this to be true.

I'll take it under advisement. With any luck I won't have to worry about the 'getting drunk' thing again for a while anyway.
