It had been a few days since Anna’s best burger post on the network, but it still had Tyler craving a good burger. So, pulling himself away from his wife’s side, he had headed out into the city of Vallo and went looking for something to quench his appetite. It had been a crazy few days, with Matt arriving and just adjusting to this new place, but at least the food here seemed familiar enough. Sure there were some places selling things he had never heard of, but for the most part, this place seemed just like home with 100x more magical things.
Like unicorns. And given that Tyler was somewhat of a magical creature too, he was still shocked by how overly magical everything was.
From his research on twitter that seemed to point to a burger truck having the best of the best, Tyler was following directions to said truck when he rounded a corner on the street he had been walking on and ran into someone coming from the opposite direction. Reaching out automatically to right whoever it was, he said, “Sorry dude, my bad.”

Life was good for Michael these days. He had Alex and Maria, he had a job he enjoyed, he had a few people he could call friends, and he was pretty confident that no one around here would do crazy scientific experiments on him if they found out that he was an alien, even though he was still largely keeping that to himself out of habit.
He was taking a break from the garage and decided to head to a food truck for lunch when someone bumped into him. “No worries,” he said absently before realizing that he recognized the voice that spoke and actually looked at the other person.
“Valenti? When the hell did you get here?” he asked, clapping a hand on the other man’s shoulder. “Good to see you, dude.”
***
Valenti? Tyler was slow on the uptake as the guy managed to lay a hand on him and start a conversation. Snapping out of it, he realized that this was probably a facetwin situation. Which was sort of exciting because this was the first time in all his universe hopping that he had a case of facetwins. “Sorry, what? I think you have the wrong guy, my name’s Tyler, not Valenti,” he said, somewhat apologetically because it sounded like this guy was on good terms with his facetwin.
“You’re an Outlander, right? I just got here a little while ago, it hasn’t been that long.”

This was Michael’s first personal experience with face twins, though he had seen it on the network as a thing. He stared at the guy in front of him, realizing that he did look a bit different from Kyle. Younger and… sharper, somehow. He couldn’t really articulate what it was, but there were differences.
“Yeah, sorry, I’m Michael Guerin,” he said. “Been here a few months. You look like a guy I knew back home, Kyle Valenti.” He was surprised to realize he was a little disappointed that this wasn’t Kyle.
***
Kyle Valenti...the name sounded familiar and it took Tyler a minute to place the name. “Shit, you mean from that old show Roswell? Uh, he was the sheriff’s son, right?” And as he remembered that show, he remembered more details. “And Michael Guerin, you’re one of the aliens, right? Cool, it’s really cool to meet you. I guess you guys come from the book verse or something because you don’t look like the guys from the show.” He would have definitely remembered one of them having his face, that was for sure.

Michael stared at him like he’d grown a second head. “I’m sorry, the what now?” he asked. “And how did you… I mean… I haven’t told anyone here about what I can do.” He’d hinted at it to Adam, and obviously Alex and Maria knew, but he hadn’t said anything to anyone else that he remembered.
Thanks to his boyfriend being a giant nerd, he knew there were people here from TV shows and movies, but this was the first he was hearing about there being anything about his life.
***
“Shit, did I just step in it?” Tyler asked, mostly to himself.. It sounded like Michael didn’t know that there was a show around. “Sorry dude, there was a show about you and your friends’ lives back in my world. I sorta binged it once. Didn’t mean to say something you didn’t already know.” Gabrielle had accused him of having foot in mouth syndrome and it sure looked like he had it.
“I promise not to say anything if you’re flying under the radar. I’m from a show too. The Vampire Diaries.”
***
“A TV show? About me and my friends?” Michael couldn’t imagine why anyone would want to watch something like that. Their lives were not all that interesting.
He was more interested in what the guy said about his own life. “Are you a vampire?” This place kept getting more and more bizarre and he wasn’t sure what to think about it. And should he tell Alex and Maria? He’d have to give that some thought.

Tyler snorted. "Ha, no. At least not anymore. I'm just a werewolf these days." No complicated hybridness for Tyler now. When he had come back from being a ghost, he had come back human. Too soon after, he had to kill someone and activated his werewolf gene, but he hadn't drank from an original, hadn't been killed with their blood in his veins. No mindless servitude for him, thank God.
"Anyway, sorry to drop a bomb on you like this. I was on my way to grab a burger if you want to join me? I'll buy you an apology burger, if you have more questions."
***
Oh, Michael had a lot of questions. He wasn’t sure if he wanted the answers though. “No worries, man,” he said. “This place is full of weird shit.” Most of it hadn’t directly impacted him before now, which he supposed he should be grateful for.
“Uh, sure, I was going to grab some lunch,” he said. “I mean, you don’t have to buy. I’ll go with you though. I can grab a burger and then head back to the shop.” There was one question he did want an answer too. “If you haven’t been here long, how do you know so much about all this?”
***
Tyler snorted. “Full of weird shit is an understatement. I saw elves on my walk this morning. Elves.” While magic wasn’t atypical for his life, this level of magic was. He nodded in the direction he had been going in before he had bumped into Michael and started walking that way.
“I’ve been on this dimension hopping rodeo before. Twice before. So I’m kind of used to the weird shit that comes along with it. It seems that they all share the ‘You’re from a piece of media, enjoy your existential crisis,’ thing among them.”

Michael shook his head, blonde curls falling into his eyes. He probably needed to see about getting a haircut sooner rather than later. “That… I honestly don’t know what to think about that,” he admitted. “It stands to reason that this wouldn’t be the only pocket universe to exist, but it’s hard to imagine being tugged to different ones.” Though obviously they didn’t have much of a choice about it.
“So, you got any advice for a dimension hopping newbie?” he asked.
***
"Yeah, alcohol always helps," Tyler joked, remembering all those years ago when Caroline had brought out the alcohol to help swallow the "everything is supernatural" pill he had been given. "Honestly, the best thing for this kind of shit is to just take things as they come. Be prepared for loved ones to come and go. But try to live your life one day at a time because that's all you can do."
***
Seemed like good general life advice and Michael nodded. “I’ve got a couple people here who are special,” he said. “So I’m definitely trying to make the most of that.” Especially since back in Roswell, he’d blown up both of those relationships pretty spectacularly.
They got to the food truck and Michael studied the menu, hoping they wouldn’t take too long to serve their food since he really needed to get back to the shop.
