At this point I'm going to have to invest half a fortune in crayons and paper, with how many drawings of dinosaurs my son is getting done. He's seen a few of the smaller ones now, that have been relatively harmless and running through the woods, and he's enthralled.

I've heard a few people talk about tea on the network, I'd be grateful for suggestions of a kind that soothes a throat? I'm afraid my vocal cords are shot and require a little downtime after the recovery efforts in Atlantis and the city. I've taken to carrying around a little erase board with me everywhere but if you run into me and it's been stolen by the toddler, you have my apologies in advance. Usually takes about three or four days of resting it when my throat's been put through the wringer.

How do you feel about licorice? I know it's not a flavor everyone likes, but it's good for a sore throat. Or turmeric, it's an antiseptic of sorts, but not everyone likes the gingery flavors either.

You know, it's not my favorite thing, but I'm willing to give anything a shot. The turmeric, though, I'll put that to good use. ... Is that in a tea or cooked with things?

Either, though you'd be able to find turmeric tea bags easily. Or ground it up and add to boiling water, let simmer, add honey for sweetness.

And I know what you mean about dinosaurs and the kid - Leo's pretty fascinated now too, with them and the merfolk of Atlantis. He always wants to go back.

Perfect! I have to lay off mead for the time being, so maybe with honey I can trick myself into thinking I'm drinking honeyed mead instead of spices.

Tris practically feels at home down there, so we were going as often as we could. There's still quite a bit of damage that needs repairing from the undersea dinosaur attack, but they're getting back on their fins.

There you go. Plus honey is good for a sore throat too, so you're just going all out on the self care.

I'm glad to hear that. They seem very resilient as well, it's admirable.

I'll add in a face mask and a hot bubble bath to really pamper myself. I appreciate the advice!

They're a strong community. I wasn't raised around one like this, so it's good to see.

I can talk for you if you get desperate. I think I can almost read your mind by now.

Now that you've put that into the world, I'd like to spend an afternoon doing just that. Please.

Never. I'll play right into it, don't you worry.

I'd hoped as much. One of the regulars at the Quills says we should try something with slippery elm in it, by the way. For your throat. I think it was a serious suggestion but I was getting interrogated about why your throat is suffering so I can't be entirely sure.

Oh really? Is it like the tree or something dirty? What was he interrogating about, exactly?

Like the tree and the tea, I imagine. But I wouldn't put the dirty past him either seeing as that's what the "interrogation" was about.

Ha! I suppose I'd say I'd gloat much more openly if that were the reason. Do you want me to come by and gloat a little?

AS much as I'd enjoy that conversation, you need your rest. It's been a busy week.

It has and I promise I'm pampering myself. I can only take so much before I just start using crude gestures to ask for things.

Don't tease. I'd take a crude gesture any day of the week and give you whatever you want.

Have you cleared us out already? Or did the kid decide tea needed muffins and muffins needed honey butter?

Muffins needed honey butter and papa's tea needed "more honey". And more.

I am more versed in wine than tea. But I do know sign language. If you would like to learn sometime, so you can communicate with your family and others easily whenever this happens?

Sadly off the menu for a few days, I've learned in the past it only makes things worse. I would love to learn - would you be willing to teach a bear and a toddler at the same time? One of which is an excellent student - I'll let you guess.

I would be willing to try. I will admit, I have never taught a toddler a language. It may take a lot more regular use in your day to day lives for him to learn.

They learn them quicker than adults do, honestly. But that we can do, in another life he would've had to learn a dozen languages for diplomatic reasons.

No more or less than other fae, but in this case it was simply because the current king was not one, yet one of his loyal Musketeers was. If you catch my drift.

I've been picking up odd jobs in construction and building repair and I imagine there will be a lot of that for a bit, but I'm sure I can find some time for you. Does your son go to work with you or stay with a sitter?

Oh, no doubt. If you've a mind for adventure and things get settled on land, Atlantis is having to rebuild some, as well. He usually goes with me, the kids there have taken him under their wing.

I do like adventure. And have a little experience with underwater welding. It was more for infiltration though I'll look into it, grazie.

As for your lessons, if perhaps the bear can meet up at the orphanage, I could meet you there sometime. The other children could learn a little too maybe?
