So about being that mirror that talks back. If you have the time I could use the advice.

I have time. It's slow at work. No one's dying.

What can I do for you?

That's usually something to be pleased about.

Siri asked if I would go on a 'date' with her and I don't think I handled it well. My experience with romance is slim to put it mildly. There were two women in my life I've cared for with potential to go that way, Siri was one of them. In both cases the woman I cared about died in my arms, the last time directly because of me.

If it makes you feel a little better, dating is difficult for everyone. It's just one of those things. Allison's the first person I dated after I took an eight-year break, because of bad reasons.

Why don't you think you handled it well?

I may have come across more opposed than I intended. There's a lot to consider, and relatioships were frowned upon in the Order. Not entirely for no good reason either.

It took me by surprise I think.

If you need to take some time to think about it, that's okay. I doubt she'd want you to feel pressured about anything. She just wants what's best for you.

I don't want her thinking I'm uninterested, as that's definitely not the truth. It is comforting to know it isn't easy for anyone.

For her there was no gap between our last mission together (where she died) and her arrival in Vallo. That was three years ago for me.

Maybe you could try talking to her again? Just so she knows for sure that you're not uninterested, you just need some time. Then if and when you both are ready, maybe you could try a date. But no, it's not easy at all. There's always a bit of awkwardness at first no matter what.

Different perspectives for the both of you, then. I can definitely tell you firsthand that arriving here fresh from death kind of has you wanting to really embrace the second chance.

Somewhere in the Force my old master is laughing himself silly at this. He was a maverick when it came to Jedi norms, and told me to be mindful of the here and now instead of worrying about the future.

I can see how it might have that effect. But is it really a second chance when people are constantly coming and going?

He sounds like he's got a good point. I'm psychic, and it took me awhile to learn this, but - the future can't be held anyway, so living in it seems like you'd miss a lot otherwise.

I think it is. We can't control the coming or going. We can just - enjoy what we have, while we have it. That we can control.

As an initiate and early in my Padawan days I sometimes had dark visions of the future. Why the Force picked me I have no idea, it certainly wasn't my choice..

Qui-Gon was a very wise man, I find myself becoming ever more aware of that as time passes.

That's a good point. I'll think on it.

Dark visions are rough. Mostly not useful. And, hm, if you knew why that would sort of influence things, wouldn't it?

Well, good. This is quite a world we're in. At the very least there's lots to do on dates.
