» Every racer will have five rolls (d20) to make up their combined total score to decide the winner. The person with the highest combined score will be first place, second highest will be second place, and so on.
» We will be doing these rolls in the #dice-rolls channel on discord for fairness and transparency.
» Please leave your character's name (and their passenger if they have one) under each subheaders of the race (so basically you're commenting your character's name five times.) This is just helpful for us to keep track when we do the rolls. If you have multiple people, you'll need to comment separately for each driver.
» You'll be able to plot out anything your characters get up to under the subheaders for each section of the track.
» If you want to keep track of the "math", we'll be doing so here:
» ICly, you can consider this the rule of thumb with your rolls (but feel free to add your own flavor.)
• 1 — yikes, major damage and you slowed down considerably, but your vehicle is still drivable» Each driver gets 1 advantage roll to use during the race - meaning you get to roll twice during one section of the track, and take the higher roll.
• 2-10 — your vehicle probably has some damage, but you're keeping pace
• 11-19 — you got through without incident, and probably a little ahead
• 20 — you fucking smoked this section, you're talented af
» After seeing the sections of the track, please pick what section you would like to use your advantage roll on before rolls begin and note it in the comment of that section (it's a risk, because what if you roll really low on a section of the track and could use the advantage there? We know! But if you think your character absolutely would drive like a pro in, say, section 3 of the track, then you might like to place your advantage roll there to potentially get a higher score.)
• You cannot pick it at the end after seeing the final tally score.
• If you don't use it, you lose it.
» Having a passenger also grants you one extra advantage roll taken by the passenger—which means cars with passengers have 2 advantage rolls instead of one. Passengers will also need to pick the section to use their advantage roll in (i.e. how did you help?)
• 1 — -1 to score, you all definitely fucked something up here and it's probably going to cause some problems on the road.» Pit crews will roll once!
• 2-14 — no additional points, your crew was decent.
• 15-19 — +1 to score, you knew what you were doing and got it done fast.
• 20 — +2 to score, oh shit are you people professionals??
» What if you don't have players as your pit crew? No worries, we'll will roll for you as your generic NPC pit crew (we'll even name them if you want.)
The overall course is outfitted with Outlander and NPC elements. Each "section" of the track contains multiple elements. Because this is a shorter race, there is only about a mile of snowy roads and paths in between each element. It's not really paved, and only marked by flags indicating where the road is and what is just forest and mountain. Officials ask that you try not to make your own shortcut or drivers will be left there to fend for themselves.
Many of the other Outlanders, including Sam Wilson, Kamala Khan, Nebula, and Kellach Donnallen, helped in building, conceptualizing, and maintaining sections of the track, along with other NPC Vallo locals.
Below is the order of how and when the sections appear in the race.
As a reminder, there are other NPC-created elements in the race (some even vaguely mentioned below) but we're handwaving what they are, feel free to assume a winter-snow-icy-holiday theme.
