MOON DAY BLOCK PARTY
Moon Day only comes once a year, and even if there are some lunar-phobic civilians in Vallo, most of them know how to throw one wild party. The next day clean up is usually nothing short of a neon, multicolored disaster.
Some of the flyers did indeed say "dress fly and catch these fresh beats", but others toted renowned DJs around Vallo's nightclub scene mixing all day long. Starting at noon and going until "moon down", the main square in downtown Vallo is set for a massive block party with street vendors selling moon-themed food and drinks, a light-up swing installation in moon-shapes to chill out, and music spinning between a complicated, and probably magic-conducted, laser light show.
Attendees were encouraged to wear clothes that showed their expressive tastes—think bright, think futuristic, think overly noticeable under blacklight, think if pop-punk ravers had their own Coachella. No one is going to be turned away for dressing comfortably, especially if they are going to be dancing the day (and night) away, but do expect to be given some kind of wearable or twirlable glow sticks.
DJ Ballpit, known for taking deep crooners and turning them into EDM earworms that fucking slap, is headlining the show, much to some other DJs' disappointment and jealousy. (Or that might just be because they are exes and notorious rivals.)
Around 10 pm (though it's hard to tell when the moon is out all day and time is a weird soup), DJ Ballpit will hit the stage with his first set. It's not until his highly-publicized second set that the record plays, though no one knows (yet) that it is the source of the widespread catatonic phenomenon.
The Moon Day Block Party is promptly canceled after that. Vallo has a long (long, long) night ahead of them. (At least attendees got a few hours of dancing and partying in.)
