"I feel truly seen," Harry said, somehow managing to keep a straight face in the full-force of Murphy's eye-rolling. He was a big boy and could take the wise-cracks as the affection he knew it to be. "You just got done calling me a drama queen and then you're surprised when I wear my magic as a badge of pride?" he asked with a grin. "Wizard. In the phone book," he pointed out with a satisfied nod and then thought, "maybe I could research an illusion to do that," Harry said with a twinkle in his eye to let Karrin know he was doing this for her entertainment. "Just an arrow with 'wizard' underneath, hovering right above my head! Save me some work."
Harry let his eyes wander back to Murphy's and felt a lump in his throat as he nodded his understanding. Somethings just couldn't be fixed easily and, apparently, Murph was one of those things. He got it, he really did. It wasn't his first brush with pain or injury, in fact they were fairly constant companions, but this was Karrin. He wondered if this was how she felt when he got himself knocked half-way off his feet but it was a little too close to home to vocalise. Maybe a conversation for when she was out of this place and back in the real world? "Sounds like we're in the same building, at least," he said with a nod, "which means you can treat me like your scullery maid until you can fetch and carry for yourself. Or need someone to get something off a high shelf," he said with a sly smile. "Until then, I'll be here, doing this, when you don't want sleep or to kill me," Harry told her softly as he gave her hand a gentle squeeze.
Alright, shouldn't have mention her angelic urges, but it's how he'd always see her and the eye-roll gave him a twinge of happiness, because he knew Murphy was going to be okay. Even the touch of bitterness washed off him like a gentle wave as he said, "you can do anything you want to," and Harry meant it. "This could be a chance to reshape your world, if you wanted to," he said more seriously. "You could be a cop again, or anything else you had a mind to do, cause you sure as hell have the will to do it," and she didn't have to settle for doing something because it sounded like it fit. "Reshape the world how you see it, Karrin," but not now. Not yet. When she was ready.
