Aidan getting a girlfriend should have been a good thing.
Sabrina had thought it would mean he’d stop paying attention to her, focus on the girl he’d finally turned his attention to. And that’s what seemed to have happened for the first few weeks--granted Sabrina hadn’t paid much attention to anything he’d done then because she’d been focused on Ripley being around. She hadn’t taken the little girl to any of the classes that Aidan was in, not wanting to expose the five year old to his antics, but she’d come with Sabrina to dance a few times and been doted on by everyone else in the class.
A few of her friends had mentioned in passing that Aidan had landed himself a girlfriend during that time and that the two could be seen making out all over campus.
Except now that Sabrina’s attention wasn’t being focused on her future five year old, she’d noticed that it wasn’t all over campus. It was at the wall opposite the door of her dance class, or on a bench along the way she walked to get to dramaturgy. It was in the courtyard that her singing class looked out onto.
She hadn’t said anything about it, wondering if she was just being ridiculous. Not that she could help rolling her eyes when she spotted Aidan and the girl across the hall making out as she stepped out of dance class.
Arwen tugged hard on her arm as almost as soon as she’d stepped outside, tugging her down the hallway and outside. “You must be really desperate for a coffee,” Sabrina teased her friend, not quite sure why Arwen looked so serious.
They’d made plans to meet up by her class and grab a coffee and snack before heading off to actor’s history together. Arwen was going to tell her a little more about her own experiences in Beketh, having grown up in the coven.
“You’re not going to believe it,” Arwen muttered, glancing behind them to make sure that Aidan wasn’t following the two.
“What?” Sabrina asked, brow arching as she tried to figure out what could be so important.
“I got here a little early because my lit class got out super early, so I just headed over. This building has way better seats to wait on than the one I was in.” Arwen pulled Sabrina to a stop, nodding for the two of them to sit down.
She wanted to angle herself toward the building the dance class had been in to keep an eye out for the Vorerra boy. “So Aidan was just standing there, where he was, looking annoyedly down at his watch. And whatever her name is--Fiona? Flora? Whatever--came up, talking nonstop about how she doesn’t know why they have to meet there at this time on Tuesdays and Thursdays. And how it's so out of the way for her class that she needs to be at in ten minutes.”
“So she doesn’t have class there?” Because that had been the only reason Sabrina had been able to come up with for why the two were there. She hadn’t seen Aidan at all up until the other week in that building.
“Nope.” Arwen made sure her p popped. “He ignored her completely, just kept looking at his watch and then pulled her in for that sloppy makeout session as soon as the door opened. He even kept glancing over at the class while doing it and then really started getting into it as soon as you walked out the door. It was gross.”
Sabrina felt her stomach plummet at the information. So it wasn’t just in her head? He might really be showing up at all of these places so that she could see him making out with this girl? What was even the point?
“I think he thinks this will make you jealous,” Arwen told her as leaned back against the bench. “Which is the most ridiculous plan in the world. I mean, has he seen your boyfriend? Or the two of you together?”
Anyone with a brain could see how much Sabrina and Nick loved one another.
“I don’t even try to understand how that guy’s mind works.” It was a lost cause as far as Sabrina was concerned.
“He needs to get a life,” Arwen muttered, the two of them spotting Aidan and the girl walking out of the building. He was barely paying any attention to her until he spotted Sabrina and Arwen on the bench and then made sure to pull his girlfriend to him. “Let’s just go get coffee and I can regale you with all of the amazing things you get to do when you join my awesome coven. Like not having to play nice with him.”
“What do you mean?” Sabrina asked even as she teleported the two of them over to their favorite coffee place.
“Do you really think he’d get away with all he’s done so far if he tried it on anyone in any of the covens’ girls?” Arwen shook her head, clearly thinking that wouldn’t have happened. “Especially one that’s tied so closely to his like Beketh is?”
Huh. “I guess I never really thought about it.”
“I mean, that boy has obviously never been told no before and that’s half the problem,” Arwen continued as they got in line to order. “But you don’t have any elders or council members or whatever to put in a formal complaint against his asshattery. Not that they care about anyway.” Being an asshole seemed to be a staple of that particular coven. “Though I’m not sure his mom even knows all that’s going on.”
It had surprised Sabrina a bit too because she was pretty sure the older Vorerra woman hadn’t been all that fond of his earlier antics. “She seems like she’s pretty no nonsense.”
“Mmhmm,” Arwen paused, putting in her order and waiting for Sabrina to do so as well. The two headed back to a table, sitting down with their scones and waiting for the drinks to be ready. “He’s been stepping out of line for awhile now.”
Sabrina shrugged. “He hasn’t really done anything since the magic fight club besides being an annoyance,” Sabrina pointed out. “Technically, whatever this is, isn’t doing anything to me.” If he wanted to parade his new girlfriend around her then it didn’t really matter much.
Arwen shook her head. “But it's weird.”
“Yeah, but it's not hurting me.” It was a weirdness that Sabrina could easily ignore. She hadn’t even noticed the two outside of the classroom today. They’d just been part of the backdrop as she hurried out to meet up with her friend. “I’d rather focus on what we came here to talk about anyway.”
“I can multitask,” Arwen reminded before nodding. “But alright. Time to tell you all about what you’re getting yourself into if you decide to join.”
