WHERE:Vallo City: Mills House WHEN:July 6th, 2021 - After this. WHAT:Henry and Regina fight off some gremlins before locking down Mills House. WARNINGS:None STATUS:Complete
The gremlins were getting out of hand, but Regina and Neal had a vague idea about where they were keeping the amulet that would return them all to the captivity that Regina had held them in for such a long time. They were going to go into the nest in the next few hours, but she still had to make sure that her vault was otherwise locked down and the house was secured against these little creatures. Who knew what other chaos these creatures could cause, if she let them?
She had intended on checking on the house one last time, when she heard a crash from the foyer. Regina didn’t bother running there, instead, teleporting there to see what was going on. The sight that she was met with wasn’t all too surprising, considering what was going on and how heroic her son tended to be when put in the right situation.
Resisting the urge to shout Henry’s name because it could distract him against the gremlins he was fighting, Regina instead focused her energies on the gremlins that came at her instead. Fireballs in hand, she let loose.
Had Henry created a sword by writing about it with his magic pen? Maybe. Was he going to confess to that fact anytime soon? Nope. Dire circumstances meant using whatever was available and throwing books at the gremlins hadn’t really been all that helpful. Plus it wasn’t like he’d gone looking for the little beasts. They had come to him. So he figured he got a pass with this anyway.
It was just as likely that Vallo had gifted him the thing anyway. Weirder stuff showed up at random all the time. Plus he’d had a sword or two back in their world before too.
He saw the fireballs and knew that his mom must have arrived on the scene. Hopefully she had a plan for containing the creatures again before they caused any further havoc.
She wasn't going to ask about the sword. It was likely that Emma or Neal had gifted it to him and she wasn't going to worry about that when they were being attacked by these idiot chaos creatures, who spewed nonsense everywhere they went.
All Regina was currently worried about was getting gremlins heads cut off and flambeed.
"Duck!" She shouted, as one of those gremlins came swinging at Henry from behind. When her kid was cleared, she charbroiled the gremlin, flinging it against a wall so it could burn away from them. God, they were never going to get the smell out.
Why was it never Gizmo? Gizmo would have been cute to have around, though making sure he stuck to the rules was a headache and a half. So maybe it was best that he wasn’t around. Henry was sticking to pokemon as a pet and they weren’t even really pets. Just small portable animal companions.
“I think that’s the last of them in the house,” Henry told his mom as he rose. Unless more had gotten inside but they seemed to be scattering, wanting to get away from Regina and wreak havoc elsewhere.
If it had been Gizmo, everyone would have jumped on Regina to save the cute little fucker instead of imprisoning him. She wasn't there to coddle anyone, so, honestly, it was for the best.
Walking over to where Henry was standing - God, when did he get so tall? She needed bigger heels - and started to check him over for injuries. "Alright, one last check of the house then I'm sealing you in unless you want to hunker down with someone else?" She trusted maybe three other places other than her own home, but she wouldn't say no if he had other places he wanted to go.
“I’m not ten anymore, mom. I don’t need to be sealed in the house.” He was more than capable of taking care of himself, nearly an adult. Technically. Just a few more months and he’d turn eighteen. Nearly a year but still, that was a long way away from ten.
“But if you don’t want me to be here alone I can go to the Reserve and help out with the dragons.” Henry had a feeling they weren’t doing well with the gremlins mucking about. Plus he had a shift there that he was supposed to go to later that day anyway.
“Yes, I’m fully aware that you’re capable, but I will always worry about you,” Regina explained, eyes soft and hand cupping his face. “But alright, let’s get you to the reserve and Neal and I are going to see about getting that amulet back. I can pop you over after we secure the house?”
Regina didn’t keep a lot of magic stuff in the house itself, but it still wouldn’t be a good idea to let the Gremlins infest the house like they had done countless businesses in the city. God, cleanup was going to be a bitch.
“I know, mom.” He’d always be her little boy and he knew that, but he didn’t always want to be treated that way. But cool. He was going to be able to get to go to the Reserve and hopefully the mess would get fixed soon. Because the gremlins were only going to cause more havoc until they were stopped. It was just their nature.
“And sounds like a solid plan.”
Calling forth a fireball into one hand, just in case, she smiled at Henry. “Get that sword ready and let’s start in the wine cellar.” Because priorities.. “Hopefully if they’ve destroyed anything, it’s Emma’s boxed wine.”
