Charmed x2

Maggie vera + PJ Halliwell
May - Coffee Shop
"So, you and your sisters are the Charmed ones?"

WARNINGS -None
read
PJ had noticed almost the second she’d walked into the coffee shop that there was something different about a woman sitting at a table alone near the counter but she couldn’t put her finger on it. At first, she thought there must be someone near the woman that she could possibly fall in love with, but she wasn’t getting that vibe. She did get it from an adorable looking set of friends giggling over a spilt cup of tea though, she pushed that out of her mind though and focused on the woman sitting by herself looking down reading something. Frowning for a second PJ skipped ordering and headed straight towards her.

“I am so sorry if this sounds weird, but there seems to be something familiar about you but really different all at the same time,” PJ blurted out as she sat down across from her without being invited. “I’m PJ.” She added as if that helped.

Maggie waved off the apology. “Weird is pretty much the status quo in my life, don’t worry,” she said. She offered PJ a warm smile and a handshake. “I’m Maggie.” She was getting kind of a weird sense about her, too, something familiar, but different and it was something she couldn’t quite put her finger on, but a part of her hoped a handshake might trigger a vision that would give her some kind of clue.

PJ took her hand offering a quick but firm handshake. “I think arriving somewhere like here anyways is kind of one of those weird things, you know? Strange.” She shrugged. “So, where are you from?”

“I’ve lived in Michigan for most of my life,” Maggie answered, “but my sisters and I were living in Seattle before I came here.” She couldn’t help being a little disappointed that she didn’t get much of anything from the handshake with PJ, but her visions weren’t always that reliable and she was probably right, anyway. It was probably just one of those things. “What about you?” she asked.

“Down the coast, I’ve spent most of my life in San Francisco,” she smiled. After most of the honest conversations, she’d had so far while here she decided to go the direct root. “So, are you from a world with magic? It seems like most of us are, although there have been a few that I’ve talked to that aren’t.” She tilted her head. “It’d be weird to be somewhere without it.”

“Yeah, I am,” Maggie admitted. It still seemed kind of weird to openly admit that when she was so used to having to keep it a secret, but it seemed like things were different here. “I didn’t know about it until a couple of years ago, but my sisters and me are witches. The Charmed Ones.” She didn’t really expect that to mean much to anyone here or she wasn’t sure if it would. Vallo had magic, but it seemed to be different here.

It didn’t surprise PJ at all that Maggie was magical, but she nearly fell off of her chair at the next words. “Sorry what?” PJ asked her eyes wide. She wasn’t sure how that was possible. PJ did not know her, she didn’t look familiar or much like anyone in her family, how was that even possible?

“Are you okay?” Maggie asked. She hadn’t expected anything resembling recognition and PJ had had a definite reaction to her words. More than that, she looked shocked by them, which wasn’t what Maggie had expected at all.

“Yeah, I think so.” She didn’t actually know how she was. “So, you and your sisters are the Charmed ones?” She didn’t so much ask as tell herself again. “Well, this is awkward. My Mom is one of the charmed ones. She and her sisters are the charmed ones.”

Maggie blinked, wondering if she’d misheard her. “Your mom is... who is your mom?” she asked after a beat.

“Phoebe Halliwell.” She said. PJ didn’t feel anything threatening from Maggie but this was just too weird for her not to feel a bit on edge.

The name wasn’t familiar to Maggie, which was a little weird, but maybe she didn’t have the full history of witchdom or whatever. “When?” she asked. “I mean, like, what year was that for you guys?”

“My Mom is still alive and while the Charmed Ones aren’t as needed, they are still there, it’s just us kids have kind of taking over demon fighting.” She said. “I’m from 2033.” PJ Frowned. “I mean things were better by the time of my birth, but there are still always demons.”

That didn’t really provide much of an explanation. Could there be more than one set of Charmed Ones in the world? “I’m from 2020,” she said. “This is seriously weird, right?”

“Unless we aren’t from the same world, just different worlds, because the Charmed ones are a once in a million years kind of thing. A string of witches growing strong and stronger until three sisters arrive.” PJ had more and more questions but she didn’t even know how to ask them.

“My mom bound our powers when we were little,” Maggie said, shrugging. “There’s a lot I still don’t know. Mel and I only found out we were the Charmed One, a couple of years ago, around the same time we found out we had another sister, Macy, after our mom passed away.” They’d had to learn a lot pretty quickly, but Maggie knew there was still so much they didn’t know.

“Huh,” PJ let out. “My Mom and her sisters had their powers bound after their Mom died because Grams didn’t think they were ready for it, triggered after death is a pretty common way for a spell to be broken.” She frowned. “Seems to be some similarities.” Which made it even weirder.

“This is really weird,” Maggie said. It was like they were from the same world, but not the same. It was a little freaky, honestly, but it also made her want to know more. “I wish Harry was here,” she said, thinking out loud. “Our white lighter, he could probably help us figure this out.”

PJ was about to ask who Harry was but nodded at white lighter. “Yeah, I’d take Uncle Leo right about now, he isn’t a White Lighter anymore, but he was one, heck even my cousin Wyatt might be able to help, he’s pretty well versed, or Aunt Paige.” She sighed. “So, basically two different sets of charmed sisters from different realities, because that doesn’t sound like a lot of power some evil guy might want to steal…”

Different realities made more sense than anything else. It was still pretty weird, but she had to admit it was pretty interesting. “Does it make you want to kind of, like, map out all the differences and similarities?” she wondered aloud. Maybe she just wanted to understand it better, but really it was just a little freaky and a part of her wanted to know more, if only to be prepared if some bad guy did come looking for all that power.

PJ thought for a moment wishing her cousin Chris was there. “Yeah, I think so, it’d be interesting to know the differences and if there are similarities in the spells. I’ve been working with Dr. Stephan Strange on learning more about astral projection so no reason not to learn more about the two different worlds.”

“Is he a witch, too?” Maggie was still new enough to have not met a lot of people, but she knew there were other magic users here, at least, even if they weren’t from her world, their world, whatever that meant right now. She was curious about them, but she’d still been trying to wrap her head around everything and hadn’t gotten around to reach out to anyone or checking into the covens someone had told her about.

“Ah, no, he’s a sorcerer, totally different world though,” she shrugged. “We should get together and go over all of the differences later.” She glanced at the clock. “I landed myself a job at the radio station and I don’t really think being late goes over well here any better than it does at home.”

“Definitely,” Maggie agreed, pulling a card from her bag to give PJ her phone number and which apartment she was staying in. “I would really like that.”

“Great! It’s set!” PJ said taking the card and writing down her own number and handing it to Maggie. “Talk soon!” She smiled as she headed off.
