Space!
Howdy! Umbrae, here. Cuz of time and family and other mitigating circumstances (I'm usually only fully available at ungodly hours when so few others are!), we're going to be handwaving Kirk and Scotty's space launch to the a moon thing. It's to go get the xprize that Kirk's mentioned before as the catalyst for this whole mess from basically the start of the game.

To make a long story short: The dad really isn't getting better. They're (the doctors are) talking about neurologists and surgery for permanent measures like feeding tubes, which is going to be a huge mess and he has stated he really doesn't want to have it done. He has a biopsy and consult coming up on Wednesday. I'm going to knock on wood to ward off bad vibes and take comfort in announcing that he's in good spirits, still up and around, and he's so far being his cantankerous old self...which is a relief and I'll take it as a good thing. I'm getting shoo'd off for checking and fussing too much, especially during his tv programs. Meanwhile though, I'm going to have to be wrangling and stubborn with some doctors to make sure they check out every available option before I let them go slicing into him, because that's what he asked me to do. We'd like to get the problem narrowed down more than simply saying okay and letting it happen, without pursuing every avenue available. So this means that I'll be pretty brain-smooth n' narcoleptic at random intervals, probably more than the norm. Sorry about that to those who have to deal with me, on a regular basis? Hopefully things will settle back down into some form of normality again...at some point or other! Grawrr! <3

I don't like handwaving stuff, but with a toon that's kinda puttered out and me being one of those 'waste not' types...plus too much stuff to juggle a formal log with everyone's schedules...it looks like this is the better/more viable option.

Regardless, I'd like to use up Scotty's points while the using is good, and then I'll see where I'm going from there. I'm just taking this (and everything) day by day. I'd hate to waste all them points I had racked up, if worse comes to worse and I have to drop him off my roster...so there'll be something funner after this space bizznus, y0! I really just wanted to get this finished out since it's gone on for so long.


Anyway, to get back on track: No, the ship doesn't have a warp speed engine. It's more like half-assed impulse power, which is still pretty fast but nothing near warp one. They don't even have to land to get the prize, if I recall? Simply drop off a little robot, make it move, and transmit pics/video. That's ezpz, since Scotty has already built a robo, in-game. Kirk will probably want to stand on the moon, so if that's an issue Joy, please let us know. The ship is pretty damn fast though, so I expect it'd be a shorter trip there and back again, than an actual moon jaunt had been, previously.

I also expect that Scotty would say no to Kirk about going anywhere near Mars yet, and there would be a slappy hand fight, and cooler heads would prevail (*eyes them both like that's not going to happen* temperamental buttholes!)...stalemate will probably happen. And really, they'd probably just end up back on Earth again, photo ops, and Kirk adding a new pickup line for getting chicks. Cuz that's how he rolls.

I'm pretty sure during reentry (kinkeh!) they won't be landing in the same spot though, since that might be a bit much to manage considering trajectories and such. But I'm sure they'd radio once they landed that all was well and be in contact the whole time, blah blah blah, no one dies and nothing goes boom.

Would like to say it happens maybe Thursday, if possible. I'd imagine Kirk or Scotty will make mention somewhere and/or go \o/ or something, after the fact. Guests are welcome at the launch, which, iirc, is happening at a offshore missile launching pad, like what they use for launching satellites. Wasn't that the plan, Snipey? Anyhoo. Everyone can boat up, and....well it's nothing fancy, so bring your own bottle and a sammich, dammit. Hostess fruit pies. Whatevs.

That's that! Guests welcome and it's open invite via word of mouth, so friends of a friend are welcome to say they were there. Really this is just to establish it happened. If you want your toon to go watch? It's all good! You can comment here, as questions, or you're simply free to have your toon say, 'hey, I was there.' They can say they were there and that nothing went boom! Either way, Thurs. That's the plan. Ker~yeah.
