I'll never get to used to how quickly things change. You leave for almost ten years and come back and all the places you used to go are suddenly Starbucks or juice bars or yoga studios. Tried to enjoy a Sunday off by driving around the old neighborhood and ended up sitting on a bench with a smoothie.

I suppose that's just the way of the world. Progress, progress, progress.

But while I'm fully aware that California has this image to keep up, it seems unnecessary to pack every street with it. It's saturating the market and, I think, sort of destroying the novelty of it.

Then again, I might just be on my way to becoming a bitter old man who is resistant to change.

	These days if you want a locally owned shop, you need to drive around for hours. I tend to drink more tea though and have more than enough tea bags at home to last a few months. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	I used to be a tea drinker. I mean, I still am, but not as much as I used to. I got hooked on coffee in recent years. Went in for the whole shebang. French press, espresso machine, and do I ever actually use any of it? Not at all. Might end up going back to tea just for the ease of it all. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	One would think that being a teacher, I'd drink a lot of coffee in order to stay up and grade papers, but I find it more relaxing to drink tea while grading. I can focus much easier. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	I don't think I could ever teach high school. Mostly because I enjoy the freedom of teaching specialized courses, but I'm not sure teenagers would find me very easy to relate to. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
