It's best that as many people learn them as possible, so they don't get lost to time. I have a whole notebook of my Mom's Memaw's recipes. Which, alright I realize that being grossed out over old cookbooks is probably hypocritical. But these are family classics everyone enjoys. Like most of the things Nico cooks now are old family recipes he grew up with.
