Not sure there is a point. Or if there is, no one's figured it out. Some people think it's to learn something, what not to do. Or to learn something about yourself. But I don't put much stock into that.

Yeah. I know that feeling all too well. I'd tell you that they get better, but that seems to depend on the person. All I can say is that they do end. They just get worse before that happens. At least in my experience.

Mine started out... pretty badly too, and have been kind of a roller coaster since, but have... started to get better, in a few places.

The government basically decided to punish all the districts that were already starving into competing in something called the Hunger Games. It's mostly teenagers that get chosen to go kill for theatrics and entertainment.
