OH man. I went to the store today and I am seriously starting to freak out. Like, who knew there were this many kinds of TURKEYS? Or stuffing? What's with all these nuts, and why are there so many cans of things out in the aisles?

I mean, I'm not even cooking it and the guy who is probably already knows what to put on the list, which like... I haven't actually asked for yet because I thought I'd do the shopping later in the month but now I am not sure at all.

Doing adult holiday stuff is like... really overwhelming, guys.

I remember the first thanksgiving I had with the girls. I was feeling much the same way you are now. One thing I did learn: do your shopping now, because in less than a week, all of that is going to vanish.

OH geeze, I better have Ren make me a list fast, then. I was only here to pick up some snacks.

But seriously why are there so many different kinds of ... everything?

I have to admit, I'm surprised Ren hasn't made a list yet. He seems like the list making type.

I have no idea. Variety, I guess.

We've been pretty busy what with my own courses and their midterms and everything! He's definitely the list making type, though. He helped me a lot getting organized for classes. I still... you know... failed, but that wasn't his fault.

It's helped me a lot with these EMT courses though.

Do you think Christmas is going to be this crazy?

Organization isn't everything...I'm not exactly the most organized person I know. Come by my office sometime. You'll see how unorganized my damn desk is most of the time.

Do I think Christmas is going to be this crazy? I have no idea. Christmas is actually pretty easy for me. Tai does most of the cooking and I generally stay out of his way. I only really have to shop for three people and they're all mostly easy. ...so long as the department doesn't do a Yankee swap again this year. You know I've gotten saddled with a goddamn tie three years in a row?! What am I supposed to do with that?? I've never worn a tie in my life. Who buys ties for those kinds of things anyway?

But if you're talking about food....yeah probably.

If Ren took a look at that he'd probably faint right over.

I don't think I even know how to tie a tie, so don't look at me! I definitely don't buy ties for things. Maybe for my graduation. My parents will probably make me wear some kind of suit for that.

Presents are hard, though. I have no idea about presents. Or Yankee Swaps. What's a Yankee Swap?

I like to refer to it as controlled chaos. The head of the department doesn't find it as amusing as I do.

In all fairness to your folks, graduation is a pretty good reason to wear a suit.

I have a feeling you're probably better at buying presents than you think you are.

Seriously, you don't know what a Yankee swap is? The bear bones concept is that everyone buys a gift. The gifts are numbered and everyone participating randomly selects a number. When your number is called you get the corresponding gift. You have the option of keeping the gift, or swapping it with someone else whose number was already called.

Well, I hope you're right about that!

But yeah I've never done that before! It sounds like a lot of fun, though! Except maybe if you hate social gatherings or don't know what a good generic gift to buy is?

You probably couldn't go wrong with a gift card? Put it in a HUGE box to throw people off!

I'm definitely going to need some help when we get down to the bottom of this. Yup. Help is required.

Do you think you could use your semblance to push the cart for us? Because these Turkeys are heavy and that's just ONE PART.

A really really hot one. We can use that. Like, people tend to get out of the way of other people who look really good.

Because this place is crazy already and we're not even close to the actual day yet. I think there might be warfare pretty soon.

Adulting is really hard. And it's harder during holidays!

Do you want me to come try and help?

We're going to have to have a team JNPR Thanksgiving Shopping trip, I think! Once Ren gives us the list. We'll be all great when we have a list! Then we can all split up and teamwork and I'm totally not having a panic attack over nut mixes right now hahahaha

Good because Ren's got a list now and we're going to start our thanksgiving mission pretty soon!

It will be fine. And once I have the list made, it will be even easier. You won't even have to look at everything else.

Maybe we need a list pretty soon actually. Because Professor Qrow seems to think this stuff is going to be gone if we wait too long. But the girls are offering to help us shop?

Me shop. I know you don't like lots of crowds.

Going early isn't a bad idea, especially if we want to avoid crowds. And I think the girls are just the force we need to make sure we get everything on the list.

Between Pyrrha and Nora I'm actually just worried about the other shoppers. It's like unleashing 2 forces of nature at once.

But yeah, I'm sure you probably actually already have part of a list, you're a pretty organized guy.

We'll just have to make sure that Nora stays far away from the desserts.

I've actually just finished it. I'll have it printed out for you in a bit.

Awww man I didn't even think of that. Okay I'm gonna split the list up and send her to the meat section or something.

Awesome! Alright, I'll just swing by and grab that and everyone else, might as well do the shopping tonight, right?

Is there anything on there that I'm not gonna recognize when I read it?

The meat section is probably the safest place for her to me. And that sounds like a very good idea.

I don't think so? I guess if there's anything, you can just text me and I'll let you know.

Yeah, meat section. Or like... canned goods, if we need those. Definitely not the baking area, any of them. There are so many areas with baked goods. And sugar.

I mean I've never seen Nora just open a bag of sugar and devour it in a grocery store, but I just don't want to take my chances.

Alright, be prepared for lots of picture texts.

Oh, she hasn't done that since we were children. I wouldn't worry too much about the bags of sugar.

I am ready. God speed.

Wait a second - there's more than one type of turkey? Now I get why the grocery store had so much trouble processing my order for delivery and kept calling with more questions. Maybe I should just ask Kat what I should get

(Reply to this) (Thread)

[info]jaune_d_arc

Well there's like... brands, and then fresh or frozen... and some that don't come with the legs on them, and then there's other birds too!?

I thought mom just went to the turkey department and grabbed one, I didn't realise it took actual research, you know?

I can definitely see why people would just order in for Thanksgiving. Too many options. Too much chance for things to go wrong.

People order in for Thanksgiving?!? What even delivers on- oh probably Chinese or other cultural food that don't normally celebrate an American holiday I guess.

I just learned a bit ago that my girlfriend has never even *DONE* Thanksgiving because she's from Greece! And it makes sense, but man I felt like an idiot for a bit.

I think some of the big chain places are open too? I don't know. Maybe I'll just do a turkey sandwich for my Thanksgiving.

Yeah. If this is her first - you got to make sure she has the full experience. Starting with the parade.

Oh yeah, we're gonna do the parade and everything! My buddy Ren is cooking up a feast and we're all going to help.

But like dude you can't just eat a sandwich. You have to have dinner!

You're the guy who can't leave his house, aren't you? Do you need someone to bring you some awesome food?

Yeah. That's me - if you're looking for shorter to call me though you can call me Michael.

Part of me wants to say yeah I do need someone but at the same time I don't want to take anybody away from their friends and families on the holiday if they don't have to be you know?
