Try to sleep, close my eyes, I'm watching the son of an old lover undo everything his father had tried to do to redeem himself. Borias had tried to make amends with the Centaurs, for his son to try to kill them all. It only took his daughter loving one to end the bloodshed. It was partly my fault too, from the bad old days.

Try to sleep again, and Caesar captured the Fates and changed history. I became his wife, Empress of Rome. But some some things are always meant to be, and I met a playwright named Gabrielle. Guess love can cross any boundary. We knew something was up, and Gabrielle freed the fates and reset time the way it was. Fuck Caesar. I hope he's burning in hell.

Try to sleep one more time, I got Gabrielle tickets to Sappho for her birthday, but through a series of unfortunate events we couldn't make it. But I talked Sappho into writing her a poem for me, which was the real present all along.

That one wasn't so bad, really. In the process of trying to get to the show, we rescued a virgin sacrifice who spent her whole life being prepared to die for her god, and with Aphrodite's help taught her to live for herself and no one else.

Then after Gabrielle read the poem I got her, we used Hermes' helmet to fly off into the sunset

That's nearly impossible to do, to change your thinking when you've spent all your time expecting to die.

Expecting? She looked forward to it, enthusiastically. Was upset we ruined her sacrifice.

But a few days outside the walls of her cult opened her eyes. That people were willing to see her as more than a sacrifice probably helped too.

It only took her a few days? That's incredible.

At first she jumped headlong into trying to follow a different god, until we convinced her to follow herself.

I get that. Dream me isn't following another god, but she is going along with another killer.

This is a little less dark.

Caesar just doesn't know when to actually quit. Considering how many of us to get out of Tartarus and cause havoc, you'd think Hades would be able to plug those holes.

Sometimes I wonder if he even wanted to plug the holes. Some of those people that escape send him plenty more in return.

True, but it's not like he'll ever be short of dead people. Unless everyone suddenly turns immortal, he'll always have people coming in.

Just did it have to be Caesar?

Did you at least get to kill him? Or did the Fates just reset everything?

He had me crucified, and Alti killed him. Gabrielle torched the Fates' loom, destroying it and recreating the universe.

What is it with him and crucifying? At least everything was put right in the end. It would be Gabrielle to do it.

I think she gambled with reality. Could've destroyed everything.

Ahh the proverbial flipping the coin and seeing what happened. Though if it had destroyed everything, at least it would've been better than living in that reality.

You're right. I can't blame her.

I bet she is quite the woman as well. Charismatic. Charming. And all around brilliant.

All of the above. Gabrielle loved the poem, too.

Excellent! And really, it's difficult to hate something Sappho wrote. Though from the sounds of it, that poem made Gabrielle's day.

That's really very poetic. I quite enjoy that kind of poetic. Not everyone gets a good dose of poetic anything in their lives.

Even if it was literal? I had the helm of hermes, it lets you fly.

Especially if it's literal! So few actually get to fly into a sunset. Though not literally into the sun, that would just be stupid. Unless you're Icarus or something, but the vacuum of space would kill you before the sun would if you weren't wearing a space suit.

Had a friend who met Icarus once.

Nah, we just flew for awhile then settled down for the night.

Sounds like that's a story in and of itself.

That is definitely better than flying into the sun.
