That's Ares. There's that story of the scorpion and the eagle, flying across the river. The scorpion stung the eagle and they both plummeted to their deaths.
Because stinging was in the scorpion's nature. Course, Ares forgot about the part where the scorpion died too.
They're as mortal as anyone else. But they have their own place in the afterlife, and their own rituals and ways to pay tribute to the gods.
