I would just like to recognize all the other parents, guardians, and otherwise patient souls who have spent the day with a kitchen that smells like vinegar and hard-boiled eggs. I've got a dog who has a streak of green and a pool of hot pink staining his beige fur because my darling daughter knocked half the dye onto the floor when she got too excited about her purple egg being ready and forgot about all the other colors.

I also might be tapping into her college tuition fund to replace this marble countertop if the stain remover doesn't work.

Easter is stressful. Every year I think it'll be a nice quiet holiday. And every year I'm proven wrong.

It certainly sounds like you've had an eventful day. I could have someone come in and do the cleaning for you if you like.

You mean you don't want to come watch Lily dance around on a chocolate high while the dog glares from the corner and I make a poultice to save my countertop? It's very glamorous over here.

I have nieces and nephews. I already know what that's like. I do, however, happen to be in possession of quite a few Romans that might be interesting if she enjoys having stories told. I could be convinced into distracting children outside of the dreams, I suppose.

She loves stories, so I'd say yes, she would probably be all over that.

Oh, it's okay. I mean you can come over if you want, I really don't mind, but you don't have to watch my kid.

Well, then I will have to put them to good use.

You can clean and I can distract? It's not really watching. I'll even read loud enough for you to hear.

Sounds good. I'll even throw in coffee.

See? The whole plan has worked out perfectly.

Ah, I could clean that for you, if you like.

Oh really? I got a good bit of it off, but there's still a stain in a couple places.

Yes, ma'am. Magic does wonders on stains.

My magic from the dreams has bled over. Some of it is beyond my control yet, but cleaning spells I can do.

That's handy. Mine don't come with any sort of supernatural powers. Just guns, murder and fluency in Russian.

Sounds like way too much fun. Mine involve a lot of running away from homicidal monsters and wizards.

It could be fun, yeah. Not the investigating murders, that's rough no matter what, but the people I surrounded myself with were pretty great.

Yeah. The people are good. I had some really good friends there. Sometimes, I find myself thinking about telling them things, or hanging out with them, and then i get a little sad that they are not here.

I had a few people like that in my dreams, too. But then one of them lives next door. So I guess I hope that I'll run into the others and maybe fill in the gaps.

Poor dog. Poor counter tops and floor.

This is why we don't dye eggs. Instead we have peep wars.

I'd say poor Yoshi. A day later and he still looks offended that I'd let such a thing happen to him.

Oh, I don't know about that. I have extra egg dye I can give to the twins.

Oh, we didn't do egg dye till she was about five. I didn't try it with her any younger, it just seemed like a mess and plastic eggs with things inside them were sufficient.
