Alright, alright, alright... (I did this in my best Matthew Mcconaughey impression right there (and also I totally had to google how to spell that name.) ) I have decided to heed the advice of friends and have joined up with this network with all you weirdos out there.

And by weirdos, I mean lovely people, some of whom I may know, most of whom I do not.

I'm Lincoln by the way, learning the ropes of networking. They say as a college student I should be spending half of my collegiate experience, at least, networking. So, here I am. My first official network post will be this--how the hell does anyone afford to board a horse around here? I've been away from Epona for way too long now and I miss her.

Also, I've only lived here in LA for a bit, and haven't had a ton of money, so I'm still trying to find the best places to grab a steak, because I'm from Montana and most of your guys' steaks I've had here are... well let's just say I prefer making my own. Though my grill is a bit suspect.

Pleasure to meet you all.

Not sure how to help you with the whole steak or horse issue. I was born and raised here so the steak tastes just fine to me. As for the horse, never had one. I think there is a ranch that takes some in though.

Anyway, welcome! I'm Caroline.

Steak's fine, but you'll have to try one of mine someday to really know what real steak can taste like.

Does it too cost an arm and two legs to board a horse though? That's the question.

And thanks, good to meet you Caroline.

Ummmm I have no idea. I've never asked anyone about how much it costs before.

Nice to meet you too :)

Yea, there are a few places that will board them, they're just pricey. Especially for a broke college student such as myself.

No big deal, I'll eventually figure it out.

Welcome to the network. What college do you go to? I'm a student at UCI. I don't know where you'd board a horse. It's cool that you have one. Horses are beautiful.

I don't know about the steaks either. Unless you like venison?

Thank you. I go to UCLA, I play basketball there. Horses really are, yes.

I do like venison, but I do prefer a true Porterhouse.

What are you studying?

I grew up hunting so I'm more used to game meats.

I'm studying Environmental Policy. Very boring.

Me too actually. I grew up in a very small town in a rural area, and went hunting all the time.

That doesn't sound boring, especially now. It's important.

There's something amazing about getting your own food and knowing it's not from a an animal that spent its entire life in a cage.

Important doesn't always mean exciting, and some of the classes are quite dull.

It's a bit more liberating, and puts you in touch with the ancestors really. I actually preferred bow hunting over rifle hunting for that very reason.

Even with Trump in charge? There must be some scary discussions of what policies he'll destroy.

I've only used a rifle.

There are, all of the time, of course. Doesn't mean some of the classes themselves aren't boring. The discussions though, the ones where we design our own policies are fantastic and fun.

Really? You really should use a bow and arrow sometime. Is there much hunting around here? If so, maybe I can show you sometime. They're rather fun to use.

Some of my class discussions are fun too.

There isn't as much hunting here as there was in Minnesota, where I'm from. But there is some. A friend helped me with the licenses and permits. It might fun to learn to use a bow. And useful for the next crisis this place throws at us.

They're the best part usually.

Minnesota? I'm from the great north as well, Montana. Maybe we can hit an archery range somewhere, and then later try our hand at a bit of hunting. It'd be fun.

Is that what they say about college students?? Because ...

Okay, I guess it might be true for me.

I'm quite bad at it. Unless networking includes playing video games, or pick up ball, or failing miserably at asking pretty girls out on a date.

I always thought it meant setting yourself up for future success, and none of that really sounds like it accomplishes... that.

Um... I think it could include one of those things. Maybe two.

I've met some really great people on this network, though, so I guess that's a plus!

That's probably what they mean then. Make friends, and then use that friendship as a form of connection when you can. Seems a bit diabolical, but maybe it's more of a way the world works sort of thing.

And maybe two? I suppose all three could work, if you're going into a gaming industry, having played video games with people, maybe someone starts a business, or gets hired somewhere, gets you in as a designer or tester. Basketball... just good friendships. And asking pretty girls on dates builds your social skills.

I've done it! I've mastered college.
