Midterms! I'm practically living on coffee, and I'm not sure I've slept in a week. I'm sure I'll need some stress relieving activities once this is over.

Anyone have any good techniques to relieve stress?

I run a lot. Put on some headphones, turn up the music and just kind of forget everything.

Running sounds good. What kind of music?

I mostly use hard rock, but anything with a strong beat will work for running. Something to get your blood pumping so you feel like you are running with the music, you know? I still try to keep my eyes and ears peeled, but it's nice to just run and let go for awhile.

That makes sense. Something that you can time your footfalls to. Must be nice to close out the rest of the world and just focus on running and music.

Exactly.

I feel like it centers me, anchors me, even with all the weirdness here. It helps me to concentrate, and later, I can remember that feeling, even when angry, or afraid, and use it.

You are way, way more in tune with your feelings than I am.

I've had to become so, because of my dreams.

What happened in your dreams?

I got bit by a werewolf and became one, and my life is, like, an endless stream of being attacked by some supernatural people or others.

That sounds really stressful.

Little bit. But the werewolf thing, it responds to emotions. The more in control I am, the less it has a hold on me.

And so I have to be... very honest.

It's an admirable quality, I think. The honesty.

I wish more people were honest.

I think a lot of people just get caught up in things.

Just to name a few: yoga is good if you need to blow off stress and relax. Kickboxing and running are great if you want to burn it off and tire yourself out to sleep.

Oh, Yoga. I took a yoga class last year at Stanford and it was... pretty boring. I'd need to have something else for my mind to do if I'm just going to sit in one position for several minutes at a time.

Know of any good kickboxing classes around here?

Volunteer work with animals, visiting the beach and hunting work for me.

You volunteer with animals and you hunt?

No. I don't get why it would. Volunteering at the shelter makes me feel really good actually. And hunting lets me honour gives me peace of mind, knowing the animals I eat lived free and were killed quickly and painlessly, and that every part of them was used.

You should definitely try to sleep.

I've always found going to the beach to be quite the stress reliever.

Oh, I don't know if I can sleep. There might be too much caffeine going through my system for that.

The beach sounds really nice, though. The sound of the ocean would probably help.

That would hinder your sleep, that's for sure.

I would say that it would, at least, it has always worked for me personally. I think it also helps quite a few people as well.

Yeah, definitely. I think there's enough caffeine in my system to keep an entire chess club up all night.

I've heard of people using "white noise" that sounds like waves crashing on the shore to help them get to sleep.

Wow, that's quite a bit, I do hope that you eventually get some sleep.

I've heard of that as well. I've never personally used one, but I think that it could be beneficial.

Oh, I will. Eventually being the key word.

I do like silence and pitch black when I sleep. I'd probably very much enjoy one of those sensory deprivation tanks.

Understandable. I've pulled plenty of late nights like that myself.

I've heard that they can be quite the experience.

It happens. Especially when one's studying hard.

I should look into it. After finals, of course.

Yes, that it does. Part of me misses those late nights, while another is grateful for the sleep I'm able to get.

Of course, and you should.

It does make sleep that much more sweet, doesn't it?

I'll put it on my to-do list. It's getting longer and longer.
