My new favorite thing is 19th century literary drama. I was an English Lit major, and I feel like this is something we should have learned. Give me a course on the behind the scenes soap operas of all the poets and authors we were reading. I mean, they could have devoted an entire six weeks to Lord Byron alone. Mary Shelly invented science fiction just to make fun of him to their friends.

These are the things that should be taught alongside the literature itself. Though thanks to my dreams, I am privy to some of this sort of knowledge about the likes of Oscar Wilde, Arthur Conan Doyle and so forth.

You have no idea how much I would love to hear all of these stories. Which is the single most weird bit of trivia you know about them?

It's difficult to pick just one, but as far as what happened with the Mary Celeste and Doyle's account of what had happened on board, it actually was not that far off the truth in my dream world. Also the character of Sherlock Holmes was actually based on a woman.

Huh. I wonder if these are true of this world, as well as your dream world.

From what I can determine, they are not. There are some fantastical elements to my dream world that do not exist in this one.

Another piece of trivia that you may find interesting, in my dream world, H.G. Wells was a woman. Specifically me.

This is probably the best piece of trivia so far. No wonder you know so much about them.

They were good friends of mine. I also met Nikola Tesla, whom I liked far more than Edison. Also met Mark Twain once. He was quite the fellow.

From what I understand, Nikola Tesla was more likable in all respects than Edison was.

He was. Nikola was both brilliant and a good man. Perhaps if the world had followed his way of thinking, technology would be more advanced than it currently is.

If all these dreams mean we've all got some sort of alternate reality past lives going on, maybe somewhere it did? I mean not that this helps us here, bit it's still a good thought?

[info]indelibleink

Perhaps there is! And you are correct, it is a good thought. I like to believe there is a universe out there where Tesla's inventions and ideas took hold while Edison's did not.

I certainly hope so! It would be fascinating to pick their brain on the differences. Clearly if H.G. Wells is a woman in one world, Tesla should have the upper hand in another!

It would be more than intriguing to find out the answer to that. At a guess I would say their world might have progressed quicker than ours in some areas.

You could always drop by and talk to your favorite professor?

It's always worth a try.

That's a shame. Missed opportunity there.

I think I'm going to have to stop by to visit one or two of my old professors. If they can't do an entire course they can at least add it to their curriculum?

I'm not sure. We couldn't get any credit for it, but we've already graduated so ...maybe it's worth a shot?

I think most people would. Give me the details of the fighting and snarking behind the books and poetry. If nothing else, to give us a better understanding. But also because it's entertaining as hell.

It really is. And makes me wonder about other famous figures. Like scientists. I'd have paid a lot more attention in science class if they'd taught us what they thought about each other more.

It's something I heard somewhere, and I have no idea how much truth there was to it. But if there is, I'm sure George probably wouldn't want to know what they all had to say about him.
